Under $100 the best options look to be one of these two. The first for the best noise isolation. The second doesn't score as well in pure noise isolation, or overall, but it has better raw sound performance.

Can't you just ask for sedation and sleep during surgery? The fact that is not general anesthesia doesn't mean you have to stay awake.

Anyway, noise cancelling phones are good for background sounds but won't stop you from hearing the saw, hammer and reamers, if that's what you're afraid of.

Hope you find a pair that work. Surgery sounds are not fun. Not to mention you know your privates are out for the world to see. But hopefully when it’s over it will all be worth it and you can spread your legs again like.....um.....you can dance and walk with no pain.

i got the sennheiser 450s and they do the trick apart from the earpieces wearing down kind of fast but could be because my ears are large and have a touch of cauliflower

Fuck sake, this is exactly what I don't want to be hearing. I'm going to be sedated, my surgeon said most people don't even remember it. I don't care about remembering it, it's the 3.5 hours of hearing a chainsaw going at it on my hip I'm shit scared about.
