They weren't liberal, and neither is the American left. There's nothing liberal about banning books, employing corporations to silence political opponents and fire dissenters, confiscating people's income, and controlling media to be nothing but cheerleaders, the administrative state, the education system, and having corporate gatekeepers for the entertainment industry.

The socialists in the America don't want any of those, they want special treatment for minorities, more government, restricted free trade, less freedom of speech, etc. To be fair there aren't too many US politicians that believe more than a small subset of those values.

That's what I'm getting at I don't think a lot of conservatives (certainly not all) actually know what liberalism is. A lot of people might actually be pro liberalism if they knew what it actually was.

A lot of data say the behavior is the same... burning/banning books, stopping free speech and protection of arms. Tearing down statues, re-writing history. Only judging people by their skins and who should have more attention. Hierarchy based of skin color as well..

Well there was a leftist wing of the Nazi party who were pissed about Hitler and the leadership cozying up to industrialists and other conservative elites when they took power, but after the Night of the Long Knives it was pretty impotent.

I have to disagree with that. Pinochet was both very authoritarian and violent but he re-privatized the companies the communist swines seized, and all the other authoritarians you mentioned as well as the global statists are very anti laissez-faire capitalism, anti private property and pro expropriation. So Chile under him would be an example of an actual right wing dictatorship for once.

Although the Nazis were right wing, they explicitly were against the older, monarchical right wing in Germany at the time. The Horst Wessel Lied rages against "Reaction and the Red Front".

Once Hitler became chancellor, he of course cut deals with the army and industrialists (they thought they could use him), and so a lot of the more left wing parts of the platform were jettisoned.
