No there isn't. Their wasn't a smarter way when Obama withdrew from Iraq. Their isn't a smarter choice for leaving Afghanistan and Syria.

Our choices for both are endless occupation, or withdrawal. Victory is not possible.

Immidiate withdrawal from Syria when Turkey is threatening WWIII over it, is the only option.

Turkey ain't gonna start WW 3. That's not gonna happen. Do the withdraw improperly and pay the price later by having to go back in when ISIS rebounds or something else takes their place. Also we are bailing out on allies which is a bad look for future allies.

But I really want to scream at you in all CAPS, that the Kurds are a fundamental threat to Turkey. They will go to war over it. More then that, they don't have to.

What do you think the S-400, and Patriot missile thing we're about? Because that was Turkey threatening to abandon the west for Russia as their strategic ally. That would start WWIII, or at least that is what the cast majority of military experts that actually write papers seem to think.

Fair enough man. The way that military law type things work can be a bit confusing if you arent familiar with it. The SECDEF is actually required to have been out of the military for a long time, Mattis had to even get a waiver.
