No more Mattis soon.

I think the problem is in thinking generals should shape geo-political policy.

They are experts of military tactics, not political scientists.

This is like asking whether engineers should shape the company strategy of car manufacturers and then saying ‘No, the Marketing department should handle that single handedly’.

The next BMW ad will go as follows: get ready, because in 2020, we’re going to release the new Z series which has a max speed of 400 Kms per hour, fully functional wings and turbine engines, and also a lifelike Kim Kardashian’s sex doll who gives you blow jobs while the AI is flying you around the globe.

This is basically what’s happening right now: the amateurs are making insane promises that can’t possibly work or have their intended effect and the experts are standing around wondering what the fuck is happening.

Wait. Who called who a little bitch?

My account in your hands? Lol. Homer is back! You have crave on speed dial

BTW. I stopped reading the rest of your post after you threatened my account. I say hit that report button so the MODS can see who called who a little bitch and made up threats

Are you personally attacking a poster in hopes of reporting their counter attacks? There was another poster who was banned for doing that same shit. I'm sure he thought he had the MODS fooled also up until the moment the hammer came down
This deflection is sad.....

“I have no meaningful way to respond.... I’ll just talk about reporting him when I’m actually the one posting personal info!!!!”

You’re like Kim Jong Un.... holding the gun to your own head threatening to pull the trigger if you don’t get what you want.

Don Lemon with some real talk.

Why did he say Trump is close to China? Aren't we in the middle of a trade war with them? That comment by Mattis doesn't really make sense.

I don't know.

When Mattis was announced for this position, the people with more experience than me (left and right) said this was a great appointment because of Mattis' skills, knowledge and character.

When Mattis announced his resignation, he made clear it's because the administration is taking a very different approach to our alliances than he thinks we should and he can't be a part of that. A man praised for his skills, knowledge and character thinks we're taking the wrong direction.

On one hand, it's good for the Sec. of Defense to align with the WH on foreign policy direction. On the other hand it's extremely bad when the person who was considered extremely credible for the position says the administration is taking the wrong direction to such a degree that he can't continue to participate.

People need to stop shifting things into "bagging on the POTUS" vs. "not bagging on the POTUS". Sometimes people are doing a bad job. Blindly defending them is just as bad as blindly attacking them. Once you get past the rhetoric, you have to start measuring what is actually being done.

You can agree with reducing illegal immigration and still have a problem with unconstitutional means of doing so. You can think taxes are too high and still have a problem with ballooning the deficit to pay for tax cuts. You can think border security is a good idea and still think $5B for a wall is a waste and that a wall is not a good reason for a government shutdown.

Good intentions mixed with bad implementation is still a shitty job.
Here’s how rough this is.

If anyone has served or is friends with multiple people from different branches they know one thing the Air Force, army, and Navy is unified on....

They rip.... CONSTANTLY..... on Marines being degenerate dumbshits that eat crayons and take the ASVAB with a crayon set and use a sledgehammer to repair their M4s the same way Jeremy Clarkson uses one to “fix” electrical problems in his cars.

All that said, to know how those that were military almost UNANIMOUSLY don’t make those same jokes about Mattis. He’s basically worshipped as a God by Marines and the other branches all respect him and were excited he was picked to be SecDef.

My friends who served and I are all in a big facebook messenger stream.

As soon as the news came out the 10 responses from my buddy were all varying forms of:
“Fuck, this isn’t good”

And none of them served as a Marine

In his resignation letter, Mattis drew a clear distinction between himself and the president. "My views on treating allies with respect and also being clear-eyed about both malign actors and strategic competitors are strongly held," he wrote.

Are you ok? There was no personal info posted. That is unless you actually believe he's a pregnant extraterrestrial

Here's a hint, he's actually not

And good God, where did I talk of reporting anyone? It's as if you read posts that were never written. seriously, are you getting posts confused?

This is the thread where liberals are now pro-war.

It is sad really. Obama in 2008 ran on bringing the troops home. If there was anything that liberals should find in common with Trump is was) ending the wars. Now their hate for him just overrides any sensibility.
well nobody likes a traitor

That stuff is more important. Mattis needed to go.

Why did Mattis need to go? Shit even the two candidates mentioned to replace him agree with him about Syria, and in fact are much more hawkish in general.

And Fox News trying to bury the Mattis story shows how fucked up the situation is that they don't want republican voters to even think about it. Don't focus on Mattis resigning and blasting Trump's world view, don't focus on Trump's lies about ISIS in Syria, don't focus on Trump's lies about Mattis "retiring", don't focus on Russia and Turkey being happy with Trump's decision and all of the US's allies thinking it is an affront, don't focus on Flynn's criminal lies and deception about Russia and Turkey, don't focus on a judge that the right previously praised excoriating Flynn and blowing up right wing conspiracy theories about Flynn being the victim, BUILD THE WALL, BUILD THE WALL, BUILD THE WALL!

There is something I don't get from Mattis' letter.
He supports NATO, the biggest winner in all of this is Turkey, a NATO ally, like it or not. They will probably invade kurdish lands now.
Now, not directly related to his letter but the media in general. I'm not sure if what's happening is good or bad. Mattis seems like a competent secretary. On the other hand, who truly benefits from this war? Israel? How is NATO and the US losing by moving 2,000 troops out of Syria?
The only thing I see is that the US loses some credibility with allies in general as they are leaving the Kurds behind.
But from a purely military angle I don't see the great mistake Trump is making. Without american troops there the Turks may invade, the Kurds may lose and that's it. Russia, Iran and Syria will keep on their side of the Euphrates, ISIS is still greatly diminished.
The US still has a lot of leverage with Turkey, it's unlikely that Turkey will join forces with Assad and Putin and leave NATO.

Right there at the top of the page under "Hot Topics." The House Spending Bill was obviously going to take the front page for most of the day.

But Mattis wasn't second or third or 4th or 5th, it was clearly buried...and the piece on Mattis continued the spin the WH was putting on it, that he was retiring as opposed to the facts of him resigning and the content of his letter, which he printed 50 copies of to be distributed around the DOD... At least today they are taking it as seriously as they need to, with more resignations in protest of Trump's plan expected. It is finally the top story, as opposed to the BUILD THE WALL distraction Trump wants.

Also, file your post under “Shit Farmer Brown says, that never actually happened.”

Are you actually asserting that you don't believe that I made a joke with my brother?

This is one of the best examples of low resolution thinking I've seen in some time.

You have full confidence in something you have no way of knowing. You're claiming to have intimate personal knowledge of a conversation between two people that you don't know and have never met.

That's bordering on derangement.

No. It's impossible for Trump to be right here.....Because he has Bolton in his cabinet. Any war opposed by Trump is a good War!

Signed, Fawlty

It's been fascinating watching the formerly anti-war left suddenly turned into war hawks because of their opposition to President Trump

I don't know what you're talking about here but I just wanted to say that I like, and will probably steal the term "low resolution thinking"!

LOL! Threaten you? What the fuck are you talking about? Are you drunk Again?

Tiny little bitch? Are you for real? We've seen you dummy. What? 5'6' absolutely no muscle tone. Bald with saggy tits, noodle arms and an almost pregnant look in the midsection

I'd never even fight you. It would look like a man fighting a pregnant extraterrestrial. I'd just hold you down as gently as possible until the authorities arrived. I'd also contain you while they argued which facility to take you to. Male or Female

I made a post talking about a joke my brother and I made yesterday. The poster who replied to me made the outlandish claim that it didn't happen.

I stole the line from Jordan Peterson :D

i think big issue here is indeed turkey.
before it's too late, stop supporting the kurds, because otherwise you will lose more, a real nato partner.
billions would be gone when turkey decides to buy stuff only from russia.
and erdogan is stronger than ever, what can you do?
