No more Mattis soon.

Of all the cabinet shuffles this is the one I feared the most.

Mattis was our best bet not to get dragged into some new conflict and to finally get DOD on track with budget and appropriate restructuring to meet new threats.

With Bolton and others in charge I am a bit nervous.

LOL, you don't know my fucking posting history at all.

Keep trolling bruh and believing John Bolden's hawk ass talking into Trump's ear is better than Mattis trying to talk him out of war.

So let's get this straight. It wasn't Mattis who talked Trump into getting involved in any limited way in Syria in the first place, it was others. You somehow know this. And yet Mattis wants us to stay there for who knows how long for appearance sake? Got it. Good riddance.

To quote what my dad just texted me:
"Mattis got fed up telling people to look at Vietnam, Yugoslavia, the Horn of Africa, Iraq, and Afghanistan about not pulling out of Syria and finally decided 'fuck it, let them create the fire and burn in it'"

Just imagine being a stoic military man like Mattis, and having to deal with a pampered baby like Trump. I always found Mattis to be a bit hyperbolic in his rhetoric, but it was never insane. At this point? That letter was a big Tony Montana "Ok mayng! You wanna go to war!!! Ok!!! Les goto war!!" He's Danny Glovered out.

Remember when they tried to blame the Iraq withdrawal and chaos that ensued on Obama for sticking to the withdrawal agreement signed under the previous administration and now they're cheering this when nothing has actually changed on the ground in Syria or Iraq...

Yeah..

These Trump guys don't do nuance. They don't see 10,000 fighters in both Iraq and Syria, filled with clandestine cells as a problem at all. We beat ISIS, fuck it!!

It was the dumber, more dangerous version of

Mattis doubted the validity of the chemical weapon attack reports.

Everything I've heard from friends still serving Mattis only chose to recommend intervention because of public outcry over the people being displaced and the images of the people foaming at the mouth from the chemical attack.

Once we get involved though it's not for appearance... the job isn't done. You can't leave Syria as it is now as it already sucked but it'll go from a semi working country to basically anarchy with how much Assad's base has been eroded.

Oh, it totally was Mattis going from cool calm and collected into the stereotypical "ooo-rah" Marine moto-ness.

WE ARMED THE MOTHERFUCKERS FIGHTING ASSAD!

We don't arm them yes, Assad murders his own but the conflict probably ends much faster.

Instead of letting Assad and the Russians rip the ducttape off in one quick motion we poured hot glue on it and let it dry and are now peeling slowly.

Man. You are all over the place.

We created the problem in a country

The leader in the country wants us gone so he can fix the problem WE created

You want to tell that leader even though we created the problem he is wrong and he needs to believe us now so we can fix the problem

If Mattis can't handle his boss wanting to pull troops out of this shit.....good riddance

Now don't be stupid Trump. Actually pick a man who does not believe in endless wars.

With Bolton I won't be surprised if I get a selective service letter in the next 2 years.

It's good that he's pulling out the troops because the likelihood of them being used has probably just increased.

Isn't it amazing when it's the generals, and not the executives that are the only people sounding like our founding statesmen? Isn't that fucked up?

He has John Bolton in his goddamn cabinet. Too late... if it were up to that guy Delta Force would still be in Mogadishu fighting over a downed helicopter.

That resignation letter.

Jesus. We are the reason there is chaos in Syria! We still don't have a clue what the F our goal is. We are supposedly fighting ISIS but so is Assad and the Russians. At least they were smart enough to not arm these barbarians

Let them handle it. IT'S NOT OUR BUSINESS!

Mattis and these establishment people seem to want us to stay involved for the same reason the globalists want us to agree to all these worthless climate change agreements no one actually intends to follow and piss away billions of dollars to these international organizations because it shows "world leadership" somehow. I'm more than willing to surrender the US's reputation and troubles that go with being the world police to the Russians and the Chinese. Let the European college students protest against their involvement and blame them for everything. Not that that will happen.

What job are we doing in Syria or Afghanistan?

Taliban are never going to be entirely wiped out unless we disregard civilian casualties and we won't do that. We are achieving nothing in Syria. No one can explain exactly what our purpose there is. Resigning over this seems more like drama queen stuff.
Lol. You’re a terrible troll. What a boring bit done a thousand times better by MANY other posters. Insignificant!

LOFL! So you hate Bolton but also hate pulling out of Syria
