He is of the belief when you start a job you best finish it as best you can. The problem we have in Iraq with the rise of ISIS and their ilk? Is cause we left and left a power vacuum when we left. Mattis doesn't want that in Afghanistan or Syria cause he's seen it happen in Iraq, Southeast Asia, Bosnia, and the Horn of Africa. And he sees us making the same, fucking, mistake, AGAIN!

Maybe if you talked to those you don't already agree with, you might see that lots of liberals recognize that going headlong into wars was a huge mistake, but simply tucking tail is not the right course of action. Christopher Hitchens was not the only liberal in the US to take a pro war position, given the fact that this war equates to civilization vs. theocracy.

You are right. Thanks to the advice of Mattis and his ilk who talked Trump into getting involved and launching a few stupid strikes in Syria. The problems there are not our doing.
