Fuck Mattis. He is apparently that sane hawk who has been keeping us from leaving Syria. Mattis is wrong, dumb, and I question his motivations for opposing leaving Syria.

If you want to be technical. You invaded syria and are there illegally. They didnt invite America in. They invited Russia. Israel has more of an argument to be in since syria has proxy attacked them. US is not threatned by syria.

This isn’t only about pulling troops out of Syria. Mattis’s letter makes it relatively clear that Trump’s deference to Russia is a problem.

As Commander in Chief, when you’ve lost Mattis, you’ve screwed up in a big way.

As for Gen Mattis leaving I'm not very sure how I feel about it. He's a hell of a warfighter and we all respected the ever living shit out of him...almost a demi-god to the Marines. He was there during OIF I and he talked to all of us before the invasion and afterwards. He gave us some great insight as to what was going on, what was about to happen, and he did it very well.

When it comes to these fucking bullshit wars we're STILL fighting I have no idea what to think about it anymore. I do feel like we're at a point where military occupation / intervention is no longer achieving anything. I'm not sure if a sudden withdrawal is likely the best course of action, but how much longer do we want this shit to go on? I can easily see any president and Gen Mattis having a tough time figuring things here in this chaos. I don't know anymore but certainly sad to Gen Mattis call it quits.
