No matter how skilled as a fighter, when facing someone like Francis...

For as powerful and effective as Francis has been he is also quite predictable. He bites hard on feints, can be drawn into wild counters with feints and jabs, throws pretty much exclusively right left right left patterns, doesn’t really vary his speed or timing.
That was certainly not true in his last fight.

Id be more concerned about him uppercutting my balls.
You ever have a ford escort drive full speed directly into your nutsack?

It’s more about not getting hit in the face. This guy comes at u from every direction , hooks, looping punches, uppercuts and short hooks and he does all that while wrestling with u or retreating. That’s what Jones’ fans don’t understand. No matter how skilled he is, everything depends on his chin really and how much can it endure. Do we agree on this point?

I was thinking that in the Rosenstruik fight. Watching it in slow motion you can see him avoid 3 punches land a leg kick and throw a left of his own, but just gets his brain shut down by the first Ngannou punch that landed. And I don't think Jones can endure any more of those punches than Rosenstruik can, which is 1.

Big punches only matter when they land.

And none of that has mattered because he has gotten away with it so far due to his eraser power.

Francis has great reactions and doesn't necessarily bite, as much as he is "twitchy". This presents a more terrifying presence for his opponents though. Alistair was frozen by it a lot of times.

Predictable; not really. Take a look at the combos that Stipe got hit with. Multiple 1,1,2 set ups with high low that eventually caught Stipe as he switched it up. Francis has gotten very good, very methodical, and become a real thinker in the cage.

how many times has jon been knocked out or ever dropped or hurt by punches

Ngannou doesn't seem like he's even playing the same sport. His game is like cheat codes. If he keeps his head in the game it's basically like touch the guy and they are out.

I do feel part of this is down to HW recently being a VERY narrow division technically, full of fighters who like to strike but arent really very quick/technical boxers, Francis speed and power is exposing their technical flaws.

Ngannou would be dangerous in any era but I think 10-15 years ago he'd have found more guys able to deal with his style.

<Dany07> When did he ever fight someone like Francis who is bigger stronger and like a wild beast with crazy power? Jon Jones won’t survive the onslaught and if he does then he will literally die the next 1

So what you’re saying is don’t let the hard puncher punch you?

got it.

Jones definitely has a good chin but really its more moreso standing up to a lot of mid level kind of punishment, even at LHW I don't think you can say he's taken that many plum shots.

Against Francis I think his problem won't just be power but reach, a lot of what Jon throws he's never really been at risk of being countered, at least not with serious power rather than a jab.

Here is Penn’s reaction just from watching the Ford escort punches
