Nick Diaz: 'UFC ain't gonna pay me'

UFC doesn’t pay what he’s worth period.

idk why people defend that? Doesn’t matter one bit if he hasn’t fought in forever, the minute he signs on to scrap his fans come running and he knows he has a worth

Nah, he's not. If they signed a Nick Diaz fight tomorrow against any halfway decent name the leadup would likely be as entertaining as the fight. Sure the potential is there that the fight could suck, but SOOOOOOOOO many people would want to watch just because its Nick Diaz, and you know thats the truth haha. Everyone here acting like Nick Diaz wouldnt draw is goofy as hell.
The post I responded to said he'd pull a million easy. Him Vs Anderson drew 650000...which is a great number. But Diaz wasn't pulling in a million buys at the height of his nonsense, no way he's doing that now considering most people don't think about him and casuals have long forgotten.

"Eeeh, ugh, ugh, at the end of the day no disrespect, alright? Hey, you know wht'I'm sayin'? Hats off! Hats off! You prolly good, you are good, look... UFC... ain't gon' pay me, they ain't gon' pay you and they ain't gonna pay me for you... Ayy, tshh, you know what I'm... *blows kiss*" - Nick Diaz

English translation: "At the end of the day, I don't mean to disrespect. You know, you're good, hats off! Hats off! However, the UFC will not pay me and they won't pay you and they're not going to pay me for (fighting) you, like, you know what I'm saying?"

You could have just said 'Im goofy as fuck' instead of typing all of that nonsense.

Unfortunately he could never handle the pressure of all the stuff around the UFC. If he stayed on the Strikeforce/Bellator route he’d have been fighting 3 times a year and probably retired by now.

I can imagine him getting lit up by Andre Ward every sparring session.

Cte is real
A lot of people aren't really noticing it because of Nicks history of sounding dumb but I totally see signs of it.

I still say he hasn't fought because he was getting CTE symptoms and things just got worse. It's not the kind of thing a lot of people will announce they have. I wouldn't feel right mocking the dude. Go listen to the interview he did with Ariel after the Nate/Jorge fight. The guy is slurring his words something fierce.

I mean they paid Anderson until recently.
Yeah but Anderson was gentleman enough to let the up and comers bounce his head around for some notoriety. And I say this as an Anderson fan

I don't think Nick has fought because CTE started showing so he quit for a while. Kept getting worse so he never attempted to come back. A lot of people prefer to keep that type of thing private.
Who can tell if it's CTE or the effects of constantly drinking?

Probably a combination. But continuing to drink and not take care of his health could do more damage than what he would have taken in whatever fights he would have had in the last 6 years

Nick Diaz hasn't fought since 2015. Stay irrelevant, we don't care.
Social media is a platform for washed up/has been fighters to stay relevant.

It would be one thing if it was strictly commentary (chael sonnen) and stories.

But fighters that try to stay relevant without actually having fought in a year(barring injury) are a little pathetic

Drinking didn't help it at all. Seems like a lot of guys who get hit in the head but also party develope worse symptoms. I definitely think it's a combination. Nick started young and had a good chin who could take punishment. Look at all the scar tissue on that face. I've also seen a correlation between having a good chin and getting punch drunk. Nick checks all the boxes. He did a 2019 interview with Ariel thats on YouTube where you can clearly see he has symptoms of CTE.

7-7 his last 14 fights. sounds like one to me. he just talks a lot and makes mean faces and smokes pot, so people think he is a top contender

7-7 at ranked UFC level absolutely does not make you a journeyman. Someone like Kevin Croom is a journeyman, not someone like Nate Diaz.
