Ngannou Vs crocop

You're posts are very insightful bro, you have a lot of knowledge.

The idea Mirko was easy to hustle I think it one of the most often repeated but wrong things in MMA history, Fedor did it via exellent defence, Hunt did it via chin with Mirko IMHO rather off form but everyone else who tried it(Wand, Igor, Aleks, Herring) got destroyed.
I will say, though Patient Ngannou is a better fighter, that approach will probably do worse vs Crocop than just going in.

I think that these two ideas go together: You're not guaranteed to win if you do pressure Cro Cop, that's certainly a fallacy contradicted by his actual record against fighters who tried to do that in both K-1 and MMA, but you're all but guaranteed to lose if you don't pressure him. Fedor obviously had the benefit of being Fedor, but what specifically he used to keep Cro Cop at bay was the big right hand. Almost every time Cro Cop committed to any offense, Fedor fired off a big counter right hand. Just making sure he kept it out there kept Cro Cop's guard up and had him thinking defense. If Ngannou was active with his hands and didn't just circle or paw with jabs but threw out that big right the same way, he could keep Cro Cop away and maybe make him wary of attacking, which could buy him time to measure Cro Cop and find a home for that punch. The danger would be swinging too wild and getting hit with counter punches, as Cro Cop's reflexes were scary fast and his left hand was laser-sighted. As he aged and as injuries piled up, he slowed down and got hit a lot more, but in his prime, Cro Cop looked like he was in the Matrix before Anderson ever got there.

Would prefer to see this fight in K-1 tbh.
I'm Croatian and saying Francis.

But in K1 I give the edge to Mirko.

Going from MMA to K-1 would change things quite a bit. Without even the possibility of Ngannou using his wrestling, and with the bigger gloves to protect more of his chin, Cro Cop would be able to dial in all the more on his offense.

Who would win this one, prime v prime.

I think it all depends. Ngannou might get gassed if crocop lands a lot of body kicks. I feel they would both touch each other, but if ngannou touches crocop he may go out.

Good fight.
ngannous got a good chin but look at the aj fight, you connect clean enough with a good straight punch and he goes out cold. cro cop would walk him onto a nice big left hand and make him fall on his own leg again

Agreed that was obviously the problem with Mirko, you were dammed if you did and double dammed if you didn't.

The Fedor fight I would argue is the best display of defence in MMA history from both men, both fighters with massive finishing ability who were throwing potentially fight ending shots though out but were able to avoid being finished for 20 mins. I think it shows Mirko wasnt JUST about movement for defence, even when Fedor got the best of him and backed him up their he was able to slip most of the punches or at least roll with them.

As you say though his style was very dependant on his physical gifts, he didnt tend to throw out many smaller shots to disrupt opponents or set up his own, sometimes as vs Wand he would work the body and then go to the head but even the body shots were potential fight enders, he basically banked on being able to avoid an opponents offence and pick out big shots which needs speed/reactions. Latter day Crocop wasnt just worse, he had to totally shift his style trying to break down opponents more slowly.

I think in his prime that would actually suit him vs Ngannou, Francis key strenght I always felt was being able to pressure people into situations were they were having to engage in really aggressive life and death exchanges with him but thats exactly what Mirko was happy doing most of the time. Across a career I think it did open him up a bit to upsets like Randleman and Gonzaga\(helped by not preping for elbows though) but in a one off fight vs Francis I think you could argue he was well used to that kind of match, Francis rushing in standing infront of Mirko and throwing down is what he was used to dealing with. Range wise as well I think Mirko's kicks would have negated any advantage Francis might have.

Ngannou would easily destroy most pride guys especially if they fight on the feet, only Fedor and maybe Nog could beat Francis.
Nog is beating everyone except Fedor - he was indestructible, remember Bob Sapp (and the Truck) ? and if you didn't have stellar ground game, sooner or later he would take your back, or rip your arm out. The Nog im UFC was like Ali in the Holmes fight...long gone

The quick footed Crocop from when he beat Wanderlie in the semi finals would perhaps be able to stay out of Ngannou's range. Ngannou def has the huge power advantage (over everyone), but I dont think so he'll be able to get Corocop - the superior stirker (knowing whats coming) - in the right range to knock him out .. Crocop though would be able to sooner or later find him at the end of his kick
