Media Ngannou reminding us Reem fans...

The LAMEST thing a fighter could possibly ever do. GOATS don't have to talk about themselves. Others do it for them.

We're still looking for Overeem's head out beyond earth's orbit.

For sure. But for every Jake LaMotta, there's a ton of examples of boxers who's health declined rapidly as they got older and showed obvious signs of brain damage. Which is why it seems genetics plays a huge part in it.
Alzheimer's and dementia also happens to people, and fighting or getting hit in the head has absolutely nothing to do with it. CTE, alzheimer's, and dementia all look the same so it most likely is genetic.

Looked like a fucking mortal kombat 1 uppercut

jake lamotta lived in his 90s...they have some interviews with him...he spoke perfectly clear and showed no signs of any CTE...but that guy could take punishment like nobody else.
I saw him in 2013...and well...he really looked messed up. But he was 90 so..

A fighter can't be proud of his work? Where's the fun in that?
I love this etiquette that people impose on fighters

DONT DO THIS

NEVER DO THAT LOL

BE WHAT WE WANT YOU TO BE

DONT EVER BE YOURSELF OR TELL THE TRUTH COS WE WONT LIKE IT SOMETIMES

BE SILENT

TALK

STOP

MOVE

Francis should get a statue made of this in his home hahaha

You're totally right. For every Jake LaMotta there's like 10 Meldrick Taylors. Sad to see

nowadays, fighters have a couple of tough fights, and people are amazed at the lack of CTE....years ago, boxers used to have over 200 fights...Jake Lamotta, was in wars...fought sugar ray robinson like 5x and took an ungodly amount of punishment...yet, lived into his 90s and was always well spoken and no signs ever of any cte...many fighters years ago had fights like that. we're talking hundreds of wars, going 15 rounds...nowadays, fighters have 40 or 50 fights and people that thinks that's alot...hahahaaha

Men like Jake LaMotta & George Chuvalo are anomalies though. They're basically medical marvels. I know a fighter with only 17 fights who has pugilistic dementia. It all depends on a fighter's physical make-up, their style, their number of fights, how much abuse they took in the gym & in their fights, etc. that determines whether they develop cognitive & neurological issues. Unfortunately, there's no way to determine who is more susceptible until it's too late.

Makes you wonder if it all boils down to genetics.
I feel like it does. I’ve seen some guys with 100+ ammy boxing matches and over 30+ Pro be seemingly unaffected and others with a handful of fights come out the other side looking and sounding like sling blade on a short bus. Interesting thing about Reem in particular is the sheer amount of fights (MMA and KB) added with gym wars dating back 20 years. The guy is legendary for having sparring matches worthy of a seat in Valhalla with no real long term issues as of yet!

I mean, Overeem's had 66 professional MMA fights, and a bunch more kickboxing fights. That's maybe not as many fights as some of those old school boxers, but that's still a shitload of fights. He's also been KO'd 15+ times.

He's 40 years old, for most people we wouldn't expect to see a ton of CTE symptoms yet. But when he's 60 it will likely be a different story. Then again, genetics certainly does play a major factor, where some people will be heavily affected by CTE and others won't at all. Definitely not a perfect 100% correlation to the amount of blows to the head taken.

Exactly. It's a genetic crapshoot as far as who winds up compromised by pugilistic dementia. I personally know many fighters who have suffered neurological dame & who have cognitively declined a great deal from their careers in the ring. Many of them personal friends. Two of whom I began fighting out of the same gym at roughly the same time with. They're both in their mid-fifties like I am & they're both in assisted living facilities. Both of them have dementia to carrying degrees & it sucks because they both used to be pretty sharp guys & they're both headed toward becoming vegetables. And it sucks.

As for me, I'm an anomaly. I had a long career as a pro boxer & kickboxer with almost 70 fights all told. Plus I was a longtime sparring partner for many champions & top contenders. Plus I was a walk-in banger. A brawler who took more than my fair share of punishment & yet, somehow, fortunately, I'm as clear as a bell.

What's crazy is that both men have had 6 fights since with identical 4-2 records. How Overeem keeps coming back from the land of living death with no visible CTE symptoms is a medical mystery
Medical mystery? The answer is horse meat.

Wow, if what you just said are all true, we gotta see more of you 'round here, bud! Your insight, needless to say, is valuable.
