Media Ngannou reminding us Reem fans...

What's crazy is that both men have had 6 fights since with identical 4-2 records. How Overeem keeps coming back from the land of living death with no visible CTE symptoms is a medical mystery
I think him not having a solid chin actually saves him. He usually goes down with one good punch instead of taking 20 to 50 solid punches to the head a fight. A straight up KO is probably easier on the brain than a tko. Look at Weidman vs Rockhold. The Chris got punished for almost a round and has never looked the same.

Was a thing of beauty no doubt!

I'd be in for a rematch if the division unfolds that way.

My question is... prime TRT/Horsemeat Ubereem circa 2010 vs. Ngannou today, does Overeem have a chance?

As a huge fan of the 2010 Reem, I desperately want to say yes, but even 2010 Overeem has been KO'd by the likes of Kharitonov, Rua, Liddell. I'm thinking Overeem would be outpointing him easily for about 2 rounds, but gets caught eventually and put to sleep.

Overeem has the undisputed title of GSILRTTHBKOOAT ("greatest spoken intelligence level relative to times he's been knocked out of all time")

nowadays, fighters have a couple of tough fights, and people are amazed at the lack of CTE....years ago, boxers used to have over 200 fights...Jake Lamotta, was in wars...fought sugar ray robinson like 5x and took an ungodly amount of punishment...yet, lived into his 90s and was always well spoken and no signs ever of any cte...many fighters years ago had fights like that. we're talking hundreds of wars, going 15 rounds...nowadays, fighters have 40 or 50 fights and people that thinks that's alot...hahahaaha
I mean, Overeem's had 66 professional MMA fights, and a bunch more kickboxing fights. That's maybe not as many fights as some of those old school boxers, but that's still a shitload of fights. He's also been KO'd 15+ times.

He's 40 years old, for most people we wouldn't expect to see a ton of CTE symptoms yet. But when he's 60 it will likely be a different story. Then again, genetics certainly does play a major factor, where some people will be heavily affected by CTE and others won't at all. Definitely not a perfect 100% correlation to the amount of blows to the head taken.

jake lamotta lived in his 90s...they have some interviews with him...he spoke perfectly clear and showed no signs of any CTE...but that guy could take punishment like nobody else.

For sure. But for every Jake LaMotta, there's a ton of examples of boxers who's health declined rapidly as they got older and showed obvious signs of brain damage. Which is why it seems genetics plays a huge part in it.

I like it. If you say the acronym, it makes you sound like you have CTE yourself.

My favorite photos from the fight:

I would love to see Ngannou murder this glass jaw again and again and again.
