Media Ngannou pay debate...

I hope he maxed his earning potential, but ultimately not my wallet/account so don't really GAF.

He cleaned the division before getting the belt and defended against a young undefeated up and comer.
He got the belt, avenging his only real loss and then defended it once after a year. I'm just saying as a fan watching Ngannou/Jones potentially 2x and all the other contenders would be what I'd rather watch. His boxing matches were more exciting than I thought, but the results weren't.

Why the fuck would he stay with the UFC making peanuts with a cock suckin woman slapping boss in Dana, the bitch ass White? Made more in 1 fight of boxing than all of the ufc fights.

I don't think you quite understand this and are missing a big point. It's not about what he made in the UFC in the past, it's about what his contract offer was for the future in the UFC. What he made vs Overeem or Lewis is not relevant, you have to consider the current market value and offer Francis was getting for future fights in the UFC. That's what this whole thing is about.

You say he would stay in the UFC and make peanuts. Did you not read the article or pay attention to anything the last 2 years since he left? His contract offer in the UFC was 8 million + PPV, so would get 10-13 mill vs Jones. That's more than Tyson Fury fight. The pay in the UFC if kept winning would be on par with boxing.

Yeah yeah yeah. All this hypotheticals. Ngannou also lost out on billions by not buying those lotto tickets either. What a dumbass.

He is rich, wasn't happy in the UFC and he left.

Everything else is not important tbh, plenty of fighters make more outside the UFC, most don't.

Pretty much everyone knows: Francis got paid!!!

Dana and co need to talk about it from a business perspective but no one can seriously say he would have made anywhere near the same in UFC or more SMH

Not to this extent, and absolutely not concentrated on one specific person. Just as other sports aren't absolutely fixated on fucking "GOATS".

MMA fans are weirdos.
Money and pay is discussed, analyzed, and compared in just about every sport and occupation. It is intricately tied to the level of competitors we can expect to see. Nothing weird about that.

IMO Dana is right that for an UFC champ- wich is a mediocre boxer at best- there is more money at the top of the UFC. If Ngannou was to climb up the rankings in boxing from the begining, he'd be poor right now and unknown.

But it happened that the UFC champ was a KO master, with a marketable look, at the time when the Saudis were willing to throw away money for freak shows. The stars were aligned for Francis, he took that chance and it paid for him.

Fuck Dana for saying you need specific scenarios to cover Saudi trillionaires tossing millions of dollars at boxing superstars to fight Francis for fun instead of their ranked competitors.

Cause that wasn’t equally completely unique and unusual scenarios too right?
No bc it happened

I would have preferred to see the Jones fight too, but it could also have been a complete matchmaking shitshow like we see now with Jones, Stipe and Aspinall.

Francis hit the lottery, he's not worth close to what he thinks he is or what he got paid for boxing (or even what Dana offered him). This is prize fighting, it's not a meritocracy where you get paid based on your sporting success and the fact is, Francis is not a draw at all. He doesn't have fans, everyone online (especially on reddit, it's pretty disgusting how they fellate him) acts like they love him but no one buys his fights. He's also an idiot, how can you be lending money (lend a significant sum from Usman) when you've been flying in private jets and buying expensive watches.

Has @markg171 posted here yet? He was ranting in the other Ngannou pay thread that he woulda made the same or more if he had stuck with the UFC lol.

UFC is a legitimate business that has investors shareholders and is trying to return a profit. The Saudis are just burning incredible amounts of money without any expectation of turning a profit. They have sunk billions into endeavors like LIV golf, soccer, and boxing that have no hope of ever turning a profit. Ngannou and many others have certainly benefited from that.
This reminds me of that interview from years ago when Dana was asked if he would be open to co-promoting with M1 for Fedor or something and he was like “M1? What’s M1 doing? Burning money. Do I want to be part of their burning money business? Fuck no.”

A hypothetical Bones trilogy could match or slightly exceed what he made in 2 boxing fights but that's a lot of ifs and I don't believe for a second Jones would want a rematch if he won a contested decision over Ngannou. He would have tried to fight Stipe or retired.

Also UFC pay goes down significantly if a champion loses. For a trilogy to even be on the table, Ngannou would have to lose. He was offered 8 mil for the first fight so he would get less as a non-champion. The numbers simply don't add up.

HW division is so cursed, even back since Randy had the belt. Something goes wrong every time. He'll Ngannou was injured for a year right after getting the belt.

I find all of the money claims thrown around Ngannou on that articlet kind BS talk, honestly.

“He was offered a deal that basically paid four to five million as champion ... this was after the [Ciryl] Gane fight.” Nash said. “The final offer the UFC made was against Jon Jones. He would get $8 million plus pay-per-view ... so around, if you did a million buys, he’d make over ten million. If you did a million and a half, which was the projected amount that Jones vs. Ngannou would do, it was up to $13 million.”
That alleged offer imho was never 8million + PPV, i do agree that it was fighting Jones and Jones only, the rest of the UFC cant draw that much, Ngannou included of course, i believe it was to be around 8million pay (Ngannou´s own words, playing around the bushes, of course), all included, probably more depending on how well it does on PPV, but not a flat 8million purse guaranteed, thats not how the UFC pays, Dana always said he would had been the "highest paid HW in UFC history", 8 million is the most for every UFC fighter, ever, they dont pay in purse, they pay in PPV points.

“He made twelve or thirteen million, around that, for [Tyson] Fury and fifteen, sixteen million, in that ballpark for Joshua,” Nash said. “You put those two together and he made about $28 million.”
This numbers sound a bit inflated, did he got PAID? Sure, in fact he got overpaid, every report for the Fury fight claims it did shit on PPV, but then again, Saudi are not in the boxing business to make money off it, they are promoting their country, spending a lot of it in the process, and the guys are boxing fans, they dont care.

He should've shown more loyalty and respect for UFC and Dana. He wouldn't have gotten these pay days without them.

I've enjoyed all his losses since leaving and hope he loses tonight.

Total diva and all around nasty person

Yeah, facts are a bitch when you are a hater that is trying to distort reality.

1) It doesn't matter what came from the Saudis, that is money earned as Francis said he would. About 28 mil for his 2 boxing matches. Trying to cling to Saudi money to invalidate these truths is silly and pathetic. Francis did what he said and left the UFC to make massively more money; deal with it.

2) There is absolutely no one that would be above excepting millions from the Saudis when they couldn't get that money elsewhere, including all of Francis's sad haters. Many in this thread talk as if he should have been above taking that, or that somehow doesn't count; ROFL at this goofy and hypocritical idea.

3) PFL gave a better deal than the UFC even aside from his boxing money.

Read the facts.
