Media Ngannou on JRE (UPDATED, with dirty cliffs)

Funny and unsurprising that he was running out of money, looking at the things he buys.
we get to laugh at how he spends his millions on these message boards, so who's really winning in life, right?

Sure he'll get tens of millions of dollars over the next year but we'll have the unmitigated joy of laughing at him spending it - I can't wait!! Every dollar he gets is kind of like a gift to us.

Francis should know there's no way in hell Dana will allow him vs JJ to happen. Not ever.

Only chance is if JJ retires and then goes to PFL.

Thats fine, it only makes Dana look worse to the fans.

Had to "ask for an advance" because he had no money. You had millions of dollars, Francis. Try not to burn through it so fast.
How did he make millions of dollars before he was champ? His purse was around 150+150 and the UFC was giving him one fight per year.
Deduct taxes, training expenses. Still enough live very comfortably but when you plan to fight 2 or 3 times a year, you may spend it too fast, especially when you support your family abroad and run a foundation mostly on your own money.

I personally like Francis, but it saddens me a little when athletes blow though their fortunes. It used to happen all the time with earlier generations of boxers and other athletes.

He's worth way more than 100 million dude, ye was making 30m a year just from youtube etc before the spotify deal, joe will be a billionaire in a few years

Do you not know what >100mm means?

Joe has always said that if UFC makes him say stuff he dont wanna say,he will leave. His podcast is obviously way more profitable than his side gig. He said that even before JRE blew up so huge.
I actually believe he's not going to be around much longer.

Too bad for them that the UFC changed their contracts to avoid anyone else pulling off what Francis did.

Francis was only in a position to do what he did because Cung Le's lawsuit years ago led to the UFC making their contract less restrictive. But they have tightened them up again because of him.

The ongoing lawsuit is going to do more for fighter rights than anything Francis can do. And the fighters need to grow some balls and unionize.
Union more likely to come first from other organizations. Guess Francis may lead something like this.

Yeah but i dont think UFC will ever want him to leave no matter what he does. Its just how much longer can he do both?

Dana might have a hardon for him. IDK. What I do know is that larger corporate companies don't tolerate things they can't control. Having him plug the competition and indirectly "shill" for fighter's rights isn't going to be tolerated by someone like Emmanuel.

they may be trying to figure out what to do because Rogan could just trash them publicly on his show if they do that.

Same here but I think this new generation of MMA athletes are a little wiser. They don't make enough $ to live like football players or celebrities and they've seen the dark side of spending money from their heros and legends. MMA being "small" actually works to make these things more known than in some other, bigger (better paying) sports where each year's earnings seems like enough to get out of last year's holes.

I doubt Francis will end up poor so I guess I don't think about it much as it pertains to him.

Better left unpacked imo

Francis won both the short and long games vs Dana.

Francis won the short game (battle) because he got a big contract with pfl, boxing tyson fury, and his freedom.

he won the long game (war) because other fighters in the UFC will follow his lead in the future if the UFC tries to sign them to indentured servitude contracts....which will humble the UFC if they don't want to hemorrhage talent.

understanding that Francis 10-8'ed him, the best uncle Dana could do was have production claim Nchukwi was the only cameroonian fighter in UFC history...

wishing the best for francis

Lol at anyone who believes frank is getting a huge paycheck. PFL hasn’t paid him, he hasn’t been paid in a long time, he was desperate for the Tyson fight, Tyson got 80/20 his last 2 boxing matches and isn’t taking less for the sideshow Frank, Tyson’s last boxing opponent got less than 4 million, Francis isn’t going to get paid more than a legit boxing opponent.

Your salary earned is based off gross pay. Add in endorsements, performance bonuses, and some years with multiple fights, and he earned over a million dollars easily. He could have had more fights if he wanted them, but he became a head case and then made demands. I have nothing against the guy, but everyone is acting like he's broke and didn't bring a lot of this on himself.

and Great on Joe for giving Francis this gigantic platform and to tell his side of the story.

I know Rogan gets a lot of flak but good on him for being a vessel for unadulterated conversation.

Joe will capitulate to whichever guest he has on in the time.

He just goes silent if someone starts talking crap about the UFC or something else.

Watched the whole podcast, I completely disagree. He doesn't seem smug at all. Not sure how you can listen to him explain his situation and side with the UFC.

If you're on this forum you are well aware of the UFC's strong-armed, shady business tactics.

I'm aware of the left wing group think which has infected many posters of this forum yes.
