Media Ngannou has been training with Teddy Atlas

Hopefully but very unlikely that this refines some of his more looping Shots and reckless tendencies, still nice to see that someone like Teddy Atlas is getting more involved with the Sport, first with Poirier, than wanting to talk to Adesanya, now Francis.

Francis more or less is gonna stick what brought him to the dance and keep blitzing people.
I believe Francis has said hes interested in boxing as well as MMA, im sure in MMA he will still like you said rely on his power.

Francis needs to get a good kickboxing coach. He has very powerful kicks, he could easily become a destroyer of calves. Relying only in the hands is silly.

When you're able to send 4 brave men into the shadow realm inside 5 minutes, you don't need kicks lol

Teddy Atlas one of the most overrated trainers in boxing history. Oh but he yells a lot, hes real fucking loud. So what? Oh but he worked with Mike Tyson. No he didnt. Piss off

It would be a good weapon against Stipe, especially low calf kicks.

Yeah I know ^^
I was semi-serious lol

There's not a lot of "high end talents" at HW, but Stipe, or Jones (if he makes it), his powerful kicks could come handy, yeah

Francis was way too tentative in that fight because he respected Black Beast power too much. I firmly believe that BB would get Rozenstruked in a rematch. Francis learned from this and would just blitz the fuck out of BB early and likely land one of those bombs for the KO/TKO.
If Shawn Jordan and Mitrione can do it, Francis definitely can

And what also rustles my jimmies a bit is this Teddy Atlas guy, who has only real experience with boxing, giving advice towards mma. I know he has legit knowledge about boxing, but has he ever taken a hard leg kick?

That's a good point as it's less likely at his age that he could learn to improve his boxing movement to be able to be better at mioicic at purely boxing since miocic has been boxing since his early youth when he was a golden gloves champion. The weakness of a fighter with a boxing approach is that you can attack his base and once you damage that he can I love punch with power.

However miocic is not only able to box well but he can wrestle well as well. So ngannou would have to be smart tactically about how he unloaded the calf kicks to avoid being taken down.

That's cool and Francis may improve his technique by doing so but ultimately his nuclear striking power is still gonna be his biggest asset I don't see him becoming a technical striker anytime soon. He's just gonna continue to rip people heads off left and right with bombs
And that's a good plan vs everyone other than Stipe.

But if he wants that belt, he needs to get better at delivering that power and doing it quick. I don't know if Ngannou can win a fight that goes 5 rounds, but I do know that a single solid shot from him is going to put anybody down. If some technique helps, why not?

He needs something different because otherwise I think a rematch goes the same way

He needs to work on those sideways elbow so he can knock Stipe the fuck out because as soon as that bell rings Stipe is gonna pin him on the cage.

Ngannou can go to someone else to learn that, tho.

Most fighters have a bunch of coaches. BJJ, wrestling, boxing, kick boxing, etc

Ngannou's an intelligent dude, I'm pretty sure he has someone to take care of him! ^^

And again, when you dispatch 4 dudes in 5 minutes, you don't have much time to show the World how complete a fighter you are lol xD

What relevance does that have to him teaching Francis?

Boxing coaches are overrated for MMA.
Why would you throw the same punches as in boxing. If Ngannou throws that uppercut he will be kneed in the head before he throws that punch.
Stay away from coaches who are only specialised in the specific boxing sports.
What consequence has a punch for mma when it comes to position and vulnerability in other areas.
This fixation on striking based on specific coaches who don't understand mma is the reason why so many fighters get damaged in the head.
Stay away from people like Atlas and study the Art of MMA. Atlas will learn him footwork that will cost him.
Back in the days when boxing guys were fighting kickers the fight didn't even last 1 minute. They always get kicked in the head

You honestly think that a guy like Teddy Atlas doesn’t understand the differences between mma/boxing striking and their requirements? You fuckin fool of a took

I'm a boxing noob here, but which world class boxers has Teddy Atlas developed?
not that many to be honest. He's had a few champions. He's mostly famous because he was Cus's protégé.
