NFTs are knickers-twisting biz:

Troy Baker, best known as the voice behind The Last Of Us Part II’s Joel Miller, made trouble for himself overnight [14.01.22] when he announced his support for a new NFT venture around monetizing artists’ voice work. “You can hate. Or you can create. What’ll it be?” he standoffish-ly tweeted. It didn’t take fans long to decide.
Update as of today (31.01.22):

Baker had decided to stop creating and start hating. Two weeks after his initial announcement, the voice actor revealed on Twitter today that he’s reversing course and abandoning any involvement in VoiceVerseNFT.

Not unlike Sega hitting pause after their NFT backlash, his 'hate or create' stance has blown up in his face since the 180. Full read here (External)

We love the cut of your jib, Troy.

this is the first shift i've seen in gaming from worse to better in ages. i hope it sticks.

Valve set the standard by stopping any game with NFT/Crypto coming to the Steam platform months back.

Sadly i see it as a generation issue. We see NFT/Crypto in gaming as a pump and dump money laundering scam. While the upcoming generation of gamers view such actions as acceptable practice.

Don't care about NFTs but thanks everyone for making them popular and continuing to increase the value of my ethereum holding.

GameStop to Launch an NFT Marketplace With New Partner

GameStop is launching an NFT marketplace later this year in partnership with an Australian blockchain startup called Immutable X.

It will also fund up to $100 million worth of Immutable X's IMX tokens to grant creators NFT content and technology, the company announced today.

GameStop said creators from gaming studios, web 3.0, metaverse gaming developers, and elsewhere can request to become a content creator on its marketplace.

The company's interest in NFTs was revealed last month by The Wall Street Journal when it hired more than 20 new staff members to run an NFT division.

Not surprised but I'd ignorantly hoped the Castlevania 35th anniversary NFTs like Dracula's castle map from last month were a commemorative one-off. It's a bit startling really how fast this is all taking off. I read in general some YouTube content is also being removed in preparation for its token capitalisation; actually, I just remembered YouTube themselves are looking into an NFT marketplace for its content and creators.

GameStonk 2.0?

Wait, other people have said that before? I posted that earlier in this thread. And there I thought I was being really clever and creative.

Nah, you got credit in the Bank of Sher for that one, unkindled esq. Also, this is the other popular play on the term for the technology facilitating money laundering and nefarious whatnot activities – quite the relevant statement piece right now, really, given Sonic's ability to outpace or evade trouble and be greased lightning on market entry:

Ubisoft’s Latest Galaxy-Brain Move Is To Gift Scammy NFTs To Employees
The Assassin’s Creed publisher continues shooting itself in the foot over NFT hype

Ubisoft’s ongoing NFT odyssey continues to bewilder and demoralize not just longtime fans but also its own developers. The company recently held another workshop aimed specifically at addressing the concerns of skeptical employees, yet also started giving out special NFTs to some members of the Ghost Reconteam to “celebrate” the series’ 20th anniversary. One developer likened it to the staff saying “We hate this crypto stuff,” and Ubisoft responding with, “OK, come get some.”

“With the opening of the Ubisoft Quartz platform in December, we thought of creating an exclusive Digit for you, the ‘Ghost Recon 20th anniversary cap!’” the announcement read, according to a copy of it viewed by Kotaku. “If you want to receive this exclusive Digit, we will inject it into your crypto-wallet on the 9th of March.” (“Digit” is Ubisoft jargon for NFT.)

No. Theyre digital images the owner doesnt have copyright claim on. Ownership of the image is logged on the blockchain and the image value is tied to a communal pool of investment money called a DAO.
