Outside of the Sunday kneeling? Youre full of it. Majority of the players don't do anything for their so called passions.
Not true. Whatever one's opinion of the protests, many of these athletes are generous with both their time and money, Colin Kaepernick and Marshawn Lynch included.

I think there are/will be three main effects:
1. People are talking about it. Everywhere. A lot. Mostly talking about the protests and a little bit talking about the cause of the protest, but even a small percentage of a lot is still a lot.
2. NFL ratings are dropping. Precipitously. Ratings are down significantly from where they were in 2015. If they come back up this isn't a huge deal. The NFL has several years before it needs to re-up it's major tv contracts and its current CBA. So if things are squared away by then I'm guessing it won't hurt the NFL long term. That's a big if from where we stand now.
3. This may help or hurt Trump long term. It's hard to say whether it has helped or hurt him in the short run, but it isn't clear that he' s changed any minds. people who like him still like him and people who hate him still hate him as of now.

Not a goddamn thing.

its become a national story that has got millions of people reacting to it.

you can say nothing good, nothing lasting, but "not a goddamn thing", is simply incorrect.

This whole issue is being misconstrued by the media. Colin Kaepernick just learned about natural selection. He hates the fact that human knees are still evolved to walk on all fours, and wants to bring attention to this situation.

Nothing...
Grown men playing a kids game and making millions. Following the footsteps of an idiot. Disrespect for the American flag and the American anthem. Here is what real men and true patriots do for their country...

In the context of everything going on now, the irony in this post is great.
Yes, so ironic and so sad. But hey I'm sure the LeBron / Kap presidential team will be great in 4 years time. Just click your heels together 3 times and it just might happen.

I'll say this for Kapernick - whatever else you might say he has demonstrated bravery and sacrifice whatever I think of his methods. A cynical person may suggest that with his 'cliff dive' level of play he's shown the last 4 seasons or so, that he had nothing to lose, but I think it's clear that he did.

The likes of Terrell Suggs? Suddenly this thug who likes to beat on his girlfriends and who has never as far as I know given a brass nickel to people in need in inner city communities are suddenly social activists? Same as 30 or so other players.

You can add in people like LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry to that list. Kevin Durant wants to return 15 million dollars to Joe Lacob when he could have spent that money on 300 scholarships for inner city kids or upgraded 10 inner city schools in Washington DC.

These guys are pure hypocrites.

just a reaction to Trump. NFL brass must have previously felt the pressure from the pro-Kaepernick crowd. Fear for the bottom line caused them to gamble and sway. But it's a bad gamble, they'll lose even more money betraying the country

Division.. and criminals in the ghetto feeling like they have support.

It seems that the only people who get upset about these protest are some whites in murica. Go figure right ? Lol

Well, who do you think the deconstructionists are targeting, Sunshine?

I'm still curious how the republican brainwashing machine turned this into "NFL players don't support our troops"

I'm still uncertain how that happened.

Nope. People of color are just tired of some sunshines acting like things have been great for minorities when In fact they were never great lol. Putting them on the spot makes them uncomfortable, which makes them blame the victims of course. Minorities just want others to be compassionate and fair to there fellow humans.

Well, Kapernick protested his way out of a job. Good going.

The other players and the NFL no doubt are going to hurt their ratings.

And instead of talking about the issue they are protesting about, most are talking about the anthem/flag and if what they are doing is wrong.

The players and the NFL could of handled it so much better.

They're the few that have notoriety and resources to make a difference, yet most of the ones kneeling are doing nothing but protesting. So what's being accomplished outside of that? Why not make a difference if they're so passionate about the cause? Few if any are really doing anything outside of publicly insinuating that society is racist

Look into Michael Bennet, Doug Baldwin, and Richard Sherman if you actually want an answer to this.

This is why I support bennet, and the Seahawks players, but not Kaepernick.

Working with local police, donating money for police training.

Funny enough, most people have never heard this.

Life is tough for most people, especially people who can't let go of the victim mindset and accept that their life outcomes are up to them.

Signed an American minority

Heres an idea. They seem to be upset about the procedures being used in these confrontations gone wrong. Id imagine the more intelligent players that have actually thought about potential solutions regarding the use of lethal force would want the police to be using non lethal solutions such as a taser or bean bag gun/rubber bullet gun. Perhaps the teams could sponsor their hometown police departments financially so every officer has such equipment readily available. I mean, they seem to care a great deal about whats going on.
