i kow that the qb pay has been a constant case of each guy 1 upping the last guy. I could see it with hurts, lamar, goff, burrow, herbert etc... But when Lawrence hit 55 mil, I was like damn. Every top 20 qb is now going to use trevor getting 55 as their baseline.

my pushback on that is that when the giants gave jones that deal, he was coming off a decent season and showed serious progress. The giants made the playoffs, jones had a career high in yards, completion %, passer rating, QBR, a 3:1 td to int ratio. It was just real bad timing for the giants to jump ship on him at that point, especially without a high draft pick to bring in a replacement. So while the 160 mil might seem rich, only 92 mil of it is guaranteed, so basically they can get out of it after 2 years. He showed just enough to warrant another 2 years of "lets see". Of course, he has proven to be crap again so its looks bad now but at the time I thought it was justifiable.
