It wasn't. I forgot the poster's handle, but he someone far crazier than even lolberto (I know that's hard for some of you to imagine). The dude was the ring leader for the conspiracy theorists in the War Room at the time too. He was crazy.

LOL at paying Smith anything.

Canex > Quitler

Just come to terms with it already.

Smith seems more like a $13-15mil/year type of dude, but thanks to fucking Flacco and Cutler he shouldn't get less than $18mil/year.

Vernon also a no show at Niner OTAs. Forfeits 200k in bonus money, not sure if he is unhappy with his current deal, has to be a reason for him to lose out on 200 grand

The abomination that is Cutler's contract pretty much ruined the market for QBs. There are a lot of QBs that are better than him who'll be looking for similar payouts. Good job, Bears.

I'm pretty sure you guys are thinking of Westerner. His Alex fandom makes Biggles' look like timid in comparison.

Flacco's contract was much more egregious than Cutler's in my opinion. At least there was a real precedent at the time of Cutler's.

I think Sam Shields' contract really dicked the corner back market this year.

Flacco has made playoffs and won a superbowl, actually plays full seasons.

Cutler fucking sucks and he has ridiculous talent around him.

Flacco was coming off a historic SB run and plenty of success, Cutler has done nothing. I think it sucks to pay for Flacco off one flukey postseason, but he has done more then Cutler ever has.

I can justify giving a contract like that given the fact that the market had already been driven upward before the contract by several other contracts. Also, because Cutler had aaaaaaall the bargaining leverage given Chicago's contract situation and their god awful quarterback history.

Bears fans, whether they want to admit it or not, are generally pretty grateful to have a passer of Cutler's ability.

They weren't grateful for Sexy Rexy.

Don't be jealous.
