Would have been 30-6 without the blocked punt.

34-6 if Jefferson doesn't drop an easy TD catch he pretty much never drops.

But this was probably one of Darnold's worst games of the season, still good enough to beat the Bears handily while team is getting a lot of penalties and QB not on. It's good that you can beat another team handily when you're having a bad day.

Also, as I have said Caleb Williams looking more and more like what I was saying prior to the season. I always questioned his mental strength and now he's not even able to see wide open players. This may be another case of the Bears ruining a QB but also might be some of the things people said about him that were dismissed were actually correct.

This is why Vikes fans were largely happy to see Kirk go. I think he benefited having KoC as a coach and JJ, Addison, and two pro bowl OTs. Yeah, coming off of that injury at his age is rough but he is not with a team with an offensive mind like KoC or players like the Vikes have.

Sorta makes the Falcons looks genius and stupid at the same time for drafting Penix.

Cousins is a puke who has never performed in a meaningful game. He owes receivers everything for his padded stats over the years.

Ouch the cap hits on Cousins if they move on after this season. Raiders were the perfect game for him to hold off Peni too.

"I want to retire a Redskin"
"I want to retire a Viking"
"I want to retire a Falcon"

Dude just says what everyone wants to hear. I don't think he's a bad QB, he's what we used to call a can crusher when I wrestled. Put him up against a bad defense he will throw the ball all over the place, play a good defense and his a liability. That's why teams got enamored with him, look at the stats he legit looks like a top 8 QB. But he doesn't have the mental makeup to be a great QB and the lack of mobility in today's NFL is an issue. I mean, just look at Darnold. He has a lot of the same things Cousins has, big arm, accurate but now with Darnold we are starting to see he can perform in big games against good teams and he also has sneaky good mobility.

But basically nobody wanted Darnold and Cousins is getting paid what? Now I'm not suggesting Darnold is likely to move on to another team and do what he has done this year again. I also think for Darnold he's getting a huge boost from what surrounds him. The issue is most of the teams looking for a QB for 2025 are shithole teams/organizations so it's going to be rough.

Raiders
Giants
Saints
Titans
Jags
Browns
Jets

I mean, these are the shit options he's going to have in 2025 and we know he isn't going back to the Jets. If I were Sam I wouldn't be real happy about my options next year if the Vikes can't pay him. Who knows, maybe the Falcons will be in on Sam which would probably be better than these teams.

$40m toward the cap in 2025 and $65m cap hit if they cut him.

2026 they would have $57m toward the cap and a cap hit of $25m if they cut him. So they save $32.5m if they cut him after 2025.

So they are are likely going with this Penix/Cousins deal for 2025.

Cousins has a no trade clause so the falcons are probably going to have to cut him.

Yup, and they financially they really can't even think about doing that until after 2025 unless they want to go full on cap hell tank.

Dont be surprised if Darnold is the Niners starting QB next year

I was the biggest Cousins hater until last season. He played like football jesus until he got hurt. Damn near beat the 49ers himself in one of the best performances I've seen in a while. Sucks that he stopped being a can right before the end of the road. Seeing as Penix is 75 years old and headed to hospice himself, they should keep Cousins around and teach him the secret to quarterbacking

Why though? Is there any substantial gain going from Purdy to Darnold?
From watching Darnold this year I think it would be a substantial upgrade. Particularly when the 49ers and Vikings are very similar on offense and coaching..ect.

I think the issue with Purdy is he doesn't have the arm talent to make the amount of plays for them to win a SB. Darnold definitely has the arm talent. Yeah, maybe he will yolo more often and it will sometimes not pay off but he's going to make a lot more big plays and down field throws.

If 49ers are thinking the same then it would be a perfect landing spot for Sam if they have the cap for it.

But we are all assuming the Vikes will move on from Sam because they have McCarthy and Daniel Jones but maybe we are wrong.

I think they can get Darnold for less money. Purdy seems kind of fragile too tbh. Hes been hurt a lot already

Cant see Darnold wanting to stay somewhere without a guarantee hes their starter. Hes earned it
