Nobody does that to Gilmore. Was super impressed with him last night.
I dont know Metcalf would dominate in every scheme, but damn its hard to imagine a better pairing than Wilson’s pinpoint deep ball accuracy. Hes a bigger, significantly faster Dez Bryant.

It’s hard to stop someone who has the size of a TE that is THAT mobile. And you can’t play him close cause of the speed. He’s elite at quite a few different things. That one deep ball where Gilmore got completely wrecked...and it ended in a TD...I do believe that would have been incomplete for most WRs because I think Gilmore got his hand in there enough to knock out the ball and force the incompletion. But Metcalf is so fucking big....when the ball is placed like that you can’t beat him via positioning..almost impossible to stop.

Looks like, at this point, Cam is going to make a lot more than $1.05 million this year.

It's looking good for him at this point if he doesn't get hurt and NE makes the playoffs.

Newton will receive a bonus of $43,750 every time he’s on New England’s game-day roster during the regular season. Being an active player for all 16 games would earn Newton an additional $700,000.

The biggest chunk of the incentives is the $3.75 million that Newton will earn if he plays 90 percent of the Patriots’ offensive snaps during the regular season and New England makes the playoffs.

If Newton meets the playing-time qualifier on the deal, but New England doesn’t go to the postseason, the bonus decreases to $2.25 million. If the Patriots make the playoffs, but Newton plays between 60 and 69 percent of the snaps, he gets a $1.75 million bonus. And there are a variety of shades to the bonus playing time-postseason berth connection, starting at $250,000 for playing at least 13 percent of the offensive snaps.

In the playoffs, Newton will receive a $250,000 bonus for every Patriots’ victory in which he takes at least half of New England’s offensive snaps. That could be worth $1 million if the Patriots win Super Bowl LV.

Newton also will receive a $500,000 bonus if he receives a Pro Bowl invitation and a $500,000 bonus if he receives first-team All-Pro recognition for the 2020 season. Newton has been a Pro Bowler three times and was the first-team All-Pro QB in 2015, when he won the NFL Most Valuable Player Award.
Can had to settle for an incentive based deal. Meanwhile cans like Dalton, Gaysom, and Marriotta got bigger deals. Lmao @ those shit teams.

Hes the epitome of the wildly overused phrase of “matchup nightmare”. Im really intrigued at how DBs try to attack him moving forward. Or do you just sell out and keep him underneath to not give up the deep ball?

I think teams wrongly bought in on Cans health without doing their due diligence since the Panthers were willing to move on. And i also think his persona/attitude is overblown in the media.

Then theres the issue of multiple teams being too stupid to change their schemes to fit personnel.

lol they really got the Rams as the dogs vs the Bills

ez money

I honestly think COVID was a huge reason. Factor in his litany of health issues and the fact that teams couldn’t get him in for a physical for months and it added up to him being in a terrible situation.

I completely agree. When I play either scenarios I can see it going wrong in a number of ways. I think you have to stay close enough to hit him as he catches the ball, if you give him time to make that turn, and start accelerating, or he’s in stride, you’re gonna have a tough time. I think it will depend on what each team has. If you don’t have a top 10 DB against this guy you’re probably going to get burned a couple times.

But Russ doesn’t need this guy to be productive..5 of his WRs all got a touchdown. Talk about options....when you can score and connect with that many guys against a secondary with guys like Gilmore out there....yeeesh.

I’m sure he’s going to have some gnarly highlights this year

@TeTe can you explain to me how the colts got hosed by tank job jags, but smoked the shit out of the Vikings? Are the Vikings THAT bad, or did the colts play a lot better?

Thats a good point.

I’m curious if he was on market for the contract he has with the pats and willing to sign with a number of teams, or if it was a “just patriots” type of negotiation. Even as a backup, or a locker room guy you’d think he’d be worth the 1.05 million. I just can’t picture with all these opt outs no one else was willing to sign him for a min contract.

All bets are off for the first few weeks of the season imo. Guess their defense just decided to put it together this week.
