I could see the Chiefs regressing next year because of the grind of the last two years. I wouldnt expect this to be a perfect storm, though. This was Spags' 1st year as the d-coordinator and they have a lot of room to grow on that side of the ball.

They desperately need CB and LB help (Breeland, Fuller are FAs and the LBs are just bad). If they can upgrade those positions through FA and the draft I can see them being as good as they were this year even without Jones.

Yeah, I’ve already said they’ll stay contenders so long as Mahomo is there and healthy but this Chiefs team really hit the sweet spot of being able to have a loaded roster without having to account for paying their QB.

Rodgers and Rustle both hit that spot and haven’t won it all since. Salary cap is there to keep some parity in the league and unless you have someone like Brady being underpaid for most of his career, it’s incredibly hard to keep an elite team together.

He did objectively well splitting with Nick Chubb in Cleveland.

464 yards from scrimmage as back 2 in 8 games. He probably gets 1k+ more TD's as a second RB option. That's good. Objectively.

They still won. It was his worst 3 quarter game, the 4th quarter he played great. He got the team back in front with big plays. The 3rd and 15 he makes that throw to Hill and KC is back.

This actually goes against your argument you goof. Kareem Hunt only played in 11 games in 2018 because he got suspended and Watkins played in 10 games because he was constantly nicked up. Yeah, Watkins played well in the playoffs last year, but with Kareem Hunt in the game- the Chiefs are going to the Superbowl. He is objectively a better back than Damien Williams.

The offense was better in both years that Mahomes started, and although he had Sammy Watkins for both years and Smith didn't, Mahomes only had Hunt for 11 games.

In those 11 games Mahomes had Hunt as the starting RB, he threw 37 touchdowns.
