Kind of a dumb (and predictable) game. Good for the Chiefs. I just don't understand why the Super Bowl has to be reffed differently than every other game of the season. Just decide on a fucking rule set. You can either smash the QB in the head or you can't. I don't really give a fuck, just pick something and go with it.

QBs always get the award, but I wouldn't have minded Chris Jones winning it. He was destroying the interior. Mahomes was off most of the game (until the 4th which obviously matters..)

I disagree. He didn't just huck the ball. Patrick made a great read and delivered the ball in the cover 3 zone coverage. The corner who had deep thirds went with Watkins instead of covering deep third and Tryeek ran a double move to the outside. That isn't huck the ball, that is making a great read. Pat makes throws and plays most QBs can't make. He elevates the players around him. It's not like Patrick is surrounded by a bunch of 1st round picks. Tyreek Hill was drafted in the 5th round. Damien Williams was an undrafted free agent. Sammy Watkins was a 1st rounder but he has been a bust most of his career and he hasn't been that great even for the chiefs outside of the opening against the Jaguars where he went off. I think Damien Williams is the only other guy who had a legitimate argument for the MVP with Patrick Mahomes. Damien had a TD reception, over 100 rushing yards and the rushing touchdown that put the nail in the coffin. Patrick had 1 rushing touchdown and 2 passing Touchdowns. Tryeek Hill and Samy Watkins made some big plays, but no other QB would have been able to make the plays the way Patrick did last night outside of maybe a younger Aaron Rodgers.

But we both know QBs will always get most of the credit, you're in New England. You should know that already.

Mahomes does have some great weapons and he has one of the best offensive minds in football as coach. Andy Reid scheme, Hill, Watkins (great when he's on, he just isn't all that often), Kelce (Top 3 TE is a significant boost for any QB) and a pretty good O-Line. I think it is extremely important to consider this. HOWEVER anyone who watches the game should be able to see how much talent Mahomes has and how many plays he just pulls out of his ass. I mean is it so hard that having lots of help and him still being arguably the best QB right now can both be true at the same time?

It's going to be interesting to see what he can do when he gets his new contract and loses some weapons or O-Line talent. Their defense already isn't that great and he might lose Chris Jones, too.

Also...many (not all) Cheatriots/Brady fans will bash any talented QB, that's what they do. Better get used to completely insane takes from them in the future.

Isaac Bruce in the HOF and the niners lose the Super Bowl.
Pretty good weekend overall.

I think most would, or should, agree with all of this. But last night wasn't a good example, he wasn't the reason they won that game. Far from it IMO.

He was causing mayhem, must have got his hands on 4 or 5 passes

Yeah his pressure led to the int, but some of those batted passes were huge. That 2nd and 5 with like 5 minutes to go he got his hand on, ball was going to a wide open Kittle for a big gain

His play later in the game was a big reason for the win, his play earlier one of the reasons they were down. I was impressed how he came back against the best defense after struggling for such a long time in the game. Only other QB I'd count on to be able to do this would be Wilson. On the other hand you had Jimmy G who heavily benefited from the run game again and didn't have to create anything special himself to get the lead, being "average" was enough. When he was asked to do more...well we all have seen what happened and he didn't have to play a #1 defense, he played an overall average defense that defends the pass well.

There are plenty of reasons for the Chiefs win and some were not even in their hand (Jimmy G, Shanahan, fortunate ref decisions), games like these are why I really don't care about Finals MVP shit. Like mentioned itt they could have easily given it to Williams or Jones as well.

Thankfully I’m still semi-buzzed. Makes dealing with this travesty a lot more bearable.

Have high hopes for my LA wildcats this season. Jalan McClendon for mvp.

I probably don't know enough about football to judge fairly. I didn't see much from Mahomes last night that impressed me, certainly nothing that any other quarterback couldn't do. The receivers being wide open and able to make catches, even when the ball was thrown pretty poorly, to me made the difference. Of course Garoppolo played a part too, he played well early but really missed some throws that would/should have changed the game considerably. But again, that's just my uneducated opinion.

In these drives he's had 30 play calls: 21 pass, 9 rush

Double digit 4th qtr leads in both games LOL

I thought the Superbowl was a battle over what idiot coach would blow the Superbowl for their team. Today, we have the answer.

I get wanting to stay aggressive and not letting your opponent off the hook, but SF staying aggressive would've meant continuing to pound the rock rather than letting KC's D off the hook by attempting to throw. In perhaps the most crucial 4th qtr possession last night he had 2nd and 5 after a 5 yd rush gain on 1st. So he goes with 2 straight failed pass plays and has to punt. Chefs then took the lead with a TD iirc

Pretty good weekend overall.

Was a nice class getting in. I liked that Atwater, and Edgerrin got in as well.
