No it doesnt. Anyone not picked in the first round gets to earn their payday earlier instead of having the risk of being physically ruined before they can get out of their first round contract bullshit.

You want to lock a kid down from getting his contract with the 5th year option? Fine. But pay top dollar for it because thats what they deserve. Otherwise they wouldnt be exercising the 5th year option to begin with.

For example, look at Carr and Mack (worked out for Mack but we saw what that required). Carr gets paid first because hes a second round pick and they had to. Keeping top notch players locked down on discounted deals is absolutely nonsense.

To be fair, he still made the playoffs and had a pretty solid year. Stats weren't anything special, but it was the other stuff that kept that offense competitive.

In addition to the offensive struggles, when they did play well, the defense just couldn't compliment and close the deal. For the last 9 games or so, they struggled to put together 4 strong quarters. Just wasn't their year last year.
