body doesnt adjust over night.You literally have to, you breath in oxygen and your body adjusts. Its the same thing as flying. Your body adjusts, if it didnt you'd just die. Even a pressurized cabin cant adequately mimic sea level.
in my cardio prime, I happened to move to the springs (from sea level haleiwa). it takes weeks to feel the same. for several days I couldn't walk 2 flights without shortness of breath.
that's when I was putting in minimum 20 miles/week in road work
