McCarthy is a good hire if you’re a shit team that wants to at least be mediocre. Not if you’re a mediocre team that no longer wants to be mediocre lmao.

That's one of the big reasons why the vast majority of the fans here do not like this hire. This hire indicates that ownership is indeed clueless and thinks the Steelers can and should be trying to contend right now versus rebuilding. If they try to bring back Rodgers I will lose my mind.

This team needs a complete rebuild with a few really bad seasons. If the plan is to let McCarthy be the coach during this dark period and have the true long term successor come in after, then sure that's a decent plan, but I doubt that's why they are thinking. It makes zero sense to hire him now, and not wait until after the Ram's coaches can be interviewed. No one else was considering hiring him.
