The answer is you take the Mayfield deal over the Dak kind of deal. I'm all about people getting paid but most of the highest paid QB's eat sacks like candy. Take a lower deal and beef up the offensive line. Nobody wants to end up like Tua every season.

I 100% agree. I don't get this whole idea where all teams pay $50/60 mil or pay nothing and draft a QB. Not all QBs are worth $50 mil and not all are worthless. Brock is great but not a $50mil guy IMO.

It sounds like a ridiculous suggestion until you pay the QB and then can't get resources for the rest of the team. Baker situations don't fall from the sky but do you really think Purdy is good enough without extra help? I'm not saying he needs The Avengers but look at the worst offensive lines currently. Some of the bottom tier offensive lines arguably in football belong to teams who paid their QB.
