Ya, that was really stupid. Don't think it would have mattered. But usually they would just let them call a timeout. At which point he could talk to the ref. I'm sure he could have just said he wanted to change his timeout to a challenge. Plus as far as I know you can't call 2 timeouts in a row anyway.

Very true - The Vikings Defene did step up big time at end of year, just enough to screw us out of a higher draft pick. But at least JJ got his 1000 yards...and he got 2 more TDs than I did this year, which is something. But ya, it's not like Darnold would have gotten then to the SB but I believe they would have easily made the playoffs with him. Reports are he turned them down though, which I would have too.

Ya, I thought the same. I swear I've seen them like a coach call TO, then switch to challenge. They have, what, like 9-10 officials at a big game like that? Normally 7 and in these games they have a special official standing by each coach.
