International Next month USA will have a new longest war

The stats show that the opioid related deaths in America are increasing on a year by year basis since 1999 2 years before the war however majority of the opioids produced by Afghanistan go through Europe as opposed to America. Tho I am sure they do eventually reach America as they are by far the largest producers of it

Most heroin users used prescription medication first. From my understanding heroin isn’t being used that much in Europe anymore and it being such a cash cow you can bet you ass that people high up the food chain profit from it

There has to be an end point tho. They can’t keep pouring $45 billion annually on this forever. If so what a sad world we live in. What’s the fucking point of being called a super power if you can’t do shit other than cause chaos to a third world country for Close to 18 years

Sure you can.

-Screech about how outdated military is

-Spike funding

-Continue war

-When a soldier dies, screech about how outdated the military is.

-Spike funding

-Continue war

-Repeat

Not much of "war" really. More like an occupation or police action.

Most of all, a gigantic waste of money and manpower.

I didn’t understand what terrorism exactly was at the time but the first videos that popped in the news regarding the 9/11 attack was certainly one of the only recollections I have in my early school years. Those planes flying into those buildings.... man I could never forget it

This is the exact same thing for me. I was around the same age as you when it happened.
Those planes going through those buildings is the earliest memory I still have

I don't remember much before or after 2005 but that day in Sept 2001, with those towers smoking and burning is forever imprinted in my memory. My granddad had it on his tv and my young mind never forgot that moment.

We ain't ever leaving the land of opium, and semi-conductor metal that only exists in Afghanistan and China.

How convenient for us that they harbored OBL.

I was a little older, in middle school at the time. I remember 9/11 but what I remember the most was the run up to and the beginning of the Iraq War, by which time I was in high school. The political climate was something right out of 1984 or a communist or other radical political cleansing. You were either 100% pro war or you were.. the enemy. And I was pro war at the time, so this isn't coming from someone opposed to it at the time. You weren't just the enemy.. you were borderline considered a traitor. It really was like a mini version of what it felt like during Dekulakization (Soviet campaign of political repressions, including arrests, deportations, and executions of millions of wealthy peasants and their families in the 1929–1932 period of the First five-year plan) or any other political cleansing. In recollect, it was so crazy and so mob driven that it's my most clear memory of the time period.

I did not realize Vietnam was 18 years. I thought it was like 10 or 12

Yeah I always forget how long Vietnam was too. Really hard to imagine being born in Vietnam and only knowing war until the age of 18.

Afghanistan is the middle east Columbia.
There are no jobs there except for opium farming.
The US funds the Taliban just like they funded ISIS because they want to keep the war extended.

No Money = No War

If a win was all we are looking for it would be over in hours, changing a government, teaching that government to fight while fighting corruption is what’s taking so long. We aren’t in active engagement no more

Not that hard to imagine anymore sadly, the generation under me has only ever known war in the middle east, and some of them are about to graduate highschool now

Well trump trying to leave the Middle East would be racist sexist kkk so here we are

Should have just built a wall around Afghanistan...
if any country needs a wall it is afghanistan, they have borders with 6 countries including china, pakistan, turkmenistan, iran, tajikistan and uzbekistan. If they had managed to create a wall on the pakistan border they would have prevented alot of the pashtun relations (closely affiliated with taliban) from going in and out of pakistan (out of US jurisdiction). It wouldn't have stopped the war but it would have severely undercut them immensely from receiving pakistani aid (which they get from americans anyway lmao)

but winning for America isn't just oh we conquered the enemy which is to disable terrorists being harboured. Taliban has never showed any interest in attacking other nations. They are ultimately nationalists. Afghanistan is a vital stepping stone for india and china. basically it is a strong military location to keep any of the eastern countries in check such as russia or china. Also afghanistan has huge mining potential which i am sure the americans want a massive pie in. can't do that amongst all the chaos.

Funny aint it? Wont give 5 billion to fund a wall because its too much and is a sign of racism and hating the poor all while saying ending a war that kills poor Afghani's is worth continuing to spend 45+ billion a year on.

We can’t lrave Afghanistan because it will become a den of terrorism and harsh sharia but most Muslims just want to live in peace. It’s jsut Afghanistan Iraq Iran Saudi Arabia Syria Egypt, etc... that will end up like that without us.

That is the dumbest shit ever.

We CAN leave. Afghanistan is not our country and we are not making it a part of our country. It is not our responsibility...also, if they just want to live in peace, then they can fight to make sure sharia never takes hold.

i know. i'm pointing out the bizarre statements like this. they're all peaceful but if we don't stay there then the majority will end up supporting terror and strict literal interpretation of the quran...

They've actually already proven that they can keep pumping in 45 billion annually. Not only that they'll most likely get more. Look at the reaction when people talked about leaving Syria. Everyone was pissed off and thought Trump was dumb.

In fact I think most people are completely ok with the US never leaving the ME. As long as we don't let Russia gain any ground in that region.
