New poll shows Sanders ahead of Clinton in New Hampshire

Yeah, you're right. We should definitely restrain ourselves from electing "old" fucks.

Don't you understand that with age comes temperance, wisdom, experience, and a lifetime of reflection on what needs to be done and whats important and whats not? I honestly wish we would reset the minimum age requirement of presidential candidates to 60.

A longview can go a long way to avoiding rash decisions based on crap pop-politik of the current times. There is far too much of that going on, especially with the modern 25-hour news cycle.

You could also say that with age also comes rose-tinted, nostalgic views of the past, calcified thinking, inability to process and internalize new methods and values, and a slowness to comprehend and adapt to shifts in culture.

The age minimum is fine where it's at.

Only fools who have faith in their fellow man.

We live in a society that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are the most famous celebrity couple.
Justin Bieber is still a hearthrob for teenage girls.
Black Lives Matter is a growing movement.
Government officials think giving nukes to Iran is a good idea.
Planned Parenthood selling fetus corpses on the open market for profit.

So, no faith to be found among our fellow man.

Too early in the race and Hillary really hasn't made a push. I like Bernie probably more than any other Presidential candidate, but he's frontrunning right now. Polls are fickle at this point.

I hope Bernie gets the nomination but it's going to go to Clinton.

Exactly what can Clinton do to make a push?

Make multiple announcements for running for President..... fail.
Giving interviews with no tough questions from hand picked reporters.... fail.
Adopt the poilicy positions of potential opponents before they gain traction... fail.
Avoid criticism from mistakes from past positions held.... fail.
Gain favorability of those that have negative opinions of you, after a quarter century in public life.... fail.
Avoid criminal investigations from federal investigators... fail.
Lose favorability among likely voters, in honesty and leadership.... fail.
Lose approval ratings among your most likely voter block, white women... fail.

Appear to be a clueless c***.... victory!

If Sanders gets the nomination, feel free to gloat. I hope he does get it, and I've even thought about switching my political affiliation to Democrat so I can vote for him in the primaries. But I'm jaded about the electoral process. Money speaks, and when the time comes, Clinton is going to have way, way more money than Bernie. Not to mention how much time is left. We haven't even had a debate yet.

Said differently - Sanders is peaking in August. Herman Cain peaked in October of 2011, much closer to the election. His campaign went nowhere.

I would love for his grassroots, populist movement to grow and overcome Clinton. I'm old enough not to get too invested in that idea, though. His ideas are dangerous enough for the establishment on both sides of the aisles to come together and work against him. That hasn't really happened yet.

It's not my prediction that Sanders wins the nomination.

Only that Hillary, doesn't.

Sanders is quite old, an admitted socialist, and has pissed off big financial sections of the Washington Establishment - Lobbyists, Wallstreet, Banks, Campaign Contributors, and the Federal Bank.

Democrats usually give lip service to russling up financial instutions, while assuring their friends and allies that it's all retoric. Sanders actually wants to do it, and that's what has the Washington establishment on edge.

They might try to throw Biden into the campaign....

...wait a sec... something just clicked to me while I was typing this.

Didn't Elizabeth Warren say she wouldn't enter the nomination race while Hillary is still running? Or somerhing to that effect?

thats nice, but hes still behind by a lot in iowa and even behind (undeclared) Biden in South carolina.

his north-eastern homebase wont be enough

I'm not claiming it's not big news. I'm just saying that the rate at which his support is increasing has slowed. Those are two unrelated claims.

I guess I have a hard time defining a huge leap forward as "slowed". Looks like he's gaining momentum to me.

Yes, that's exactly what the big, scary Bernie Sanders is trying to do. Take away ninety percent of your income. Because greed. No don't get up, I'll reach it for you.

This can be true, but i think with the right cabinet and advisors can be overcome. For a guy like Bernie i havent noticed this issue yet. For a guy like John McCain though...lol

What would be awesome is if Clinton and Sanders' awful supporters cancel each other out and Biden comes in and takes the nomination.

It'd be hilarious to a see a Sanders versus Trump election, but has America really become that polarised (and somewhat ridiculous)?

I hope it's Bernie, an old as shit socialist. Please please please. I knew the dems we're going to win in 08, very uncommon for one party to get 3 terms In a row. People who were not excited in 08 will be coming out hard in 16. Bet on that. I just hope it's not Bush vs Clinton.

Sanders vs Rubio. The old vs the young.

Ugh, no. I'd take either candidate over biden.

You really think he will win the Democratic nomination? If he does than a Republican will be president.

You are OUT of your mind and do NOT know American politics if you think a man who OPENLY calls himself a socialist will become president of the United States. Obama had nearly half the country railed against him because he 'appeared' to be a socialist according to his hatters.

Deja vu, didnt I read this exact same interaction in another thread about Bernie like three days ago?

I don't see how he wins the national vote. People need to remember that Obama OWNED Romney but that Obama appealed to a lot more people. Bernie by his self appointed title of 'socialist' is NOT going to get the vote of a lot of people who warmed up to Obama.

Thing is, the "socialist" label is losing its bad image fast. And I mean reeeeally fast. I mean, it's been a quarter of a century since the USSR fell, China is almost completely open, we just re-established relations with Cuba. It was bound to come.

I saw a poll a couple of months ago that over 50% of the population said they would vote for a socialist. Expect that to continue to increase in the next year as they discover that Bernie's "socialist" views are basically just very progressive ones.

Would be hilarious if it ended up being Sanders vs. Trump for the presidency.

You couldnt spell out class warfare any clearer than that.

Fo real!

I think Bernie would eat his lunch too.

I think you'd be surprised.

The right has run it into the ground. Everything is "socialism" to those idiots. Public education is socialism. Social Security is socialism. Medicare is socialism. Taxing capital is socialism. Geezers in the GOP have to be very conflicted if they buy into that. They remember socialism as being the enemy and an insult, but they also strongly support programs that the right claims are socialism.

And Bernie calls himself a Democratic socialist, making the distinction that he does not believe the government should own all capital.

He's really just a liberal (people should have access to healthcare, education, stronger social safety net if you need it, etc.).
