New Ghostbusters Film out in 2020

I hate that the fact that because this is a “thing,” it will most likely result in the producers making sure that the movie ends up having an extremely strong feminist touch.

Furthermore, has anyone seen a reboot in the last 15 years that was better than the original? I have never been able to understand this country’s obsession with reboots, when almost all of them across the board are horrible.

I can’t think of many. But the new Batman movies were way better than the ones with Michael Keaton, retarded Christian Bale voice included.

The new Death Wish with Bruce Willis was surprisingly good. Idk if it was better than the original though.

I never saw the original A Wrinkle in Time, but I did see the remake. It was as good as a children’s movie could be.

Those are the only ones I can think of. So basically, Batman is the only good reboot ever.

So an accurate reflection of post-grad education statistics at the time the movie was made.

I would say it’s more reflective of post graduate occupational opportunities of today than the 80s. True story: getting a PhD in economics actually has a negative return on investment where as getting just a masters degree in that same discipline has a huge return over getting just your bachelor’s.

I don't think I made it past maybe 10-20 minutes of the new one, I even gave it a go because I didn't want to buy what the media said was dog shit and it was indeed animal feces.

Just ignore the "rheee!" of the social media outrage club and make a good movie.

Giving them what they want and attention every time they're upset is what their parents did....

I like what he said. Basically he's answering the fan's outrage towards the last one. Ghostbusters wasn't originally about making a social statement, and he wants to bring it back to that.

The backlash is the other side wanting the movie to be about themselves instead of the original concept of ghostbusters which was dumb fun in solving a haunted mystery.

Backlash these days is basically people screaming that something isn't about themselves. You can't win in a social environment like this.

Ok, you must be living an opposite day.

They are few and far between, but they do exist and I'll lump in some recent remakes for good measure:
True Grit
3:10 to Yuma
Dredd
Casino Royale and Daniel Craig Bonds >>> Die Another Day/TWINE/Tomorrow Never Dies/Goldeneye (yeah I said it)
The Departed > Infernal Affairs
Dawn of the Dead arguably
The Incredible Hulk >>> The Eric Bana Hulk
MCU Spider-Man > Maguire Spider-Man, and definitely better than the Andrew Garfield ones
Planet of the Apes Prequels
Bale Batmans are much more highly regarded than the Keatons, The Dark Knight is rated the 4th greatest movie of all time on IMDB

That said, there are many more horrible ones.

"People are outraged!"

They are?

"Yes, here's two twitter posts to prove it."

The writer/director of the upcoming "Ghostbusters" reboot is taking heat on social media for remarks he made that were interpreted by critics as a sexist attack on the 2016 female-led film in the franchise.

Jason Reitman, son of the original "Ghostbusters" writer/director Ivan Reitman, said on a recent episode of the Bill Burr Podcast that he didn’t want to make the “'Juno’ of 'Ghostbusters’ movies” and instead promised a “love letter” to the original franchise.

“I love this franchise. I grew up watching it. I consider myself the first a ‘Ghostbusters’ fan. I was like seven years old when that movie came out and I love it. I want to make a movie for my fellow ‘Ghostbusters’ fans,” Reitman told Burr. “We are, in every way, trying to go back to the original technique and hand the movie back to the fans.”

Those comments were seen by several critics as a jab at the female reboot that starred Kristen Wiig, Mellissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.

You should read the comments he's getting. Very amusing. Man they will find anything to be outraged about right?

Dance Puppets!

Edit: i dunno, if you guys want to move this to the war room go ahead but I thought it more entertainment than politics.

He is right. The 2016 Ghostbusters film was a cheap knock-off. It would be "sexist" of Reitman not to acknowledge that, because then he would cutting them slack despite the fact that everything about the first film sucked. He is treating those women equally by acknowledging they were part of a really shitty movie.

No it isnt.
And
No it wasn't.

You’re just pissed because there was no rape scene in the new Death Wish. And did you also like the Kilmer and Clooney Batman movies? I’m guessing you did, which disqualifies your opinion on pretty much everything.

Well, True Grit and Last House on the Left. But improvement over the original is a rarity.

You could maybe argue Fury Road as well, wasn't nominally called a reboot but I think in a lot of respects really was. Questionable whether it was better than the Road Warrior of course as I think both are great films but at the very least it didn't represent a significant downgrade.

I think you also see the difference in politics as well, Fury Road is actually IMHO a far more political film than the Ghostbusters remake with a female co lead rebelling against whats essential a cult of "toxic masculinity". Its a film with some weight to it by an ambitious director, it tells the story it wants to tell and for me does it well. The Ghostbuster reboot though is a pretty empty film made by a not very ambitious hacksih director, its politics really only exists as tokenism to sell the film. Its the same with Starwars sequels for me, very little weight to those films and what political points The Last Jedi makes are feel poorly developed and ham fisted afterthoughts, the main politics involved is using tokenism to sell a product in a cynical fashion and the end result IMHO is that ti actually damages the causes it claims to support.
