FYI HERE ARE THE NEW CALIFORNIA LAWS THAT TAKE EFFECT JANUARY 1st:

- first year of community college will be free for all new students (must be full time)
- recreational marijuana legal to purchase
- vehicle registration will cost $25 to $175 more based on the value of your car
- minimum wage up to $11 per hour
- Sanctuary State law will limit local cooperation/resources with ICE
- guns banned at all public schools even for those with concealed carry permits
- all ammunition purchases (or pickups) must be made in person
- gender identity no longer a requirement on IDs
- baby changing tables will be required in all restrooms, including men's
- pet stores will only be able to sell rescue animals (sp. dogs, cats, rabbits)
- employers will no longer be able to ask for your salary/benefits history, and must provide a pay-scale for the job upon request
- wearing a seat belt on buses will become mandatory for those with seat belts. Buses carrying children aged 8-16 must provide seat belts
- free tampons and pads must be in at least half of all restrooms in public schools that serve low-income areas (defined as 40% poverty or more)

(Compiled by Laura Friedman, CA District 43 Assemblyperson, thank you!)”

I don't see any major changes issues that I would scream about other than registration going up and ammo. If that's the stuff the people in the state want cool with me, just don't try to force it on the rest of the country.

Aside from the sanctuary city / ICE ruling -- all of that seems reasonable.

Need more info on the car registration and cross examine it with how it's spent / how agencies spending it draft their budgets.

I'll be seeking employment in Cali in a few months.. should be interesting to see how this pay scale thing works.

I hope sanctuary city thing gets figured out. Is it legal or does it need to go to the Supreme Court?

Should favor you more. They won't have a base line of how much they can pay you before the interview.

Depends on how much he was making before.

The employers won't know. So they cant as easily low ball @TeTe. I think that's the ideal, so being able to ask for pay scale should give a better idea of what they pay other people in the position.

Remember when Florida was the laughing stock of the USA?

lots Of sensible laws imo.

This is why California is a better state than the country bumpkin ones most of you dingbats worship

I mean, I have a minimum figure I'll be working with. I'd ask ahead just to know if I'm wasting my and their time. I get that sometimes they ask you these things during a phone screening, but not always.

Only full time Community College being free would just make it harder for lower income students that need to work. Not only to go to school but to support themselves or help support families.

What would change from how it was for part time students?

The original policy is to comply with federal law, and nothing past that.

This new thing is now actively prohibiting anytime from doing anything past complying with federal law.

It's probably going to get struck down when someone challenges it, i believe.
