Never understood the BSD hype

I never thought he was a top tier LW. He got tooled up and battered by old man Zaleski Dos Santos. Thought Poirier had a really good chance of beating him and felt the same about Renato in this fight

That doesnt really describe the Porier fight at all. It was him doing all the beating until he got too reckless.

He got beat up on the ground tonight, but to say you "didnt get the BSD hype" is just stupid.

There is very good reason why the guy had hype.

Sure he had some success grappling against Poirier (mainly because he should be a Welterweight) but he didn’t do any real damage.

I love how everyone dumps on a fighter after they lose.

BSD had hype behind him for a reason. He was finishing guys left and right, showed legit BJJ skills, and powerful striking.

But his ground game, or lack thereof tonight, makes me doubt how good his ground game really is. I mean, Moicano couldn't take down Fiziev, a smaller guy and kickboxer no less. BSD looked like a white belt on the ground.
he is talented, but most of his finishes in his career are by submission. His recent streak of 5 wins are mostly mid-tier guys, he folded once the competition stepped up. He doesn't seem to have champinship ceiling.

Still a JBG though and sometimes that's better ;)

i find it really easy to understand his hype

guy won 5 straight, all finishes. showing basic but powerful striking, competent grappling and ruthless agression

even against poirier, who exposed his lack of defense and cardio, he looked like a terminator for the most part

you wouldnt be crazy to think that with some tweak to his striking defense, he would go far
but he shows no willingness to evolve, and moicano showed us that his grappling aint all that either

bsd's situation is what happens when u dont evolve fast enough as a fighter

its sad, i like the guy a lot

Steady on friends! BSD is the sort of jobber MMA needs. Former special forces, intense, spastic in the cage- it's great. The commentary team can go on about his killer record before tying it in to his MMA record, which makes the casuals salivate. If he gets owned who cares? He's number 12 fighting waaaay above his own level and riding insane betting lines. Ideally, he gets a brutal win here to reset his capital with the fans, and then the cycle can repeat.

Corner should NOT have let him out for round 2. The potential for permanent damage was egregious. Of all the times for the French not to surrender.....

BSD is decent. He probably needs to make the trip to America now to work on his actual MMA game. He got taken down by Moicano who isn't known for his wrestling. That takedown pretty much won Moicano the fight. I don't think BSD was actually hurt or wanted to quit but the eye was busted.

He looked like he had all the potential in the world, but he hasn't been able to solidify his game to reach that potential. There's still time to turn it around.

His right eye was open, but not at the right place.

Being a prospect in today's UFC means you beat random 50/50 W/L guys. What a joke.
