Never understood the BSD hype

I mean he’s got the ever loving shit beat out of him by every good fighter hes ever fought.
That doesnt really describe the Porier fight at all. It was him doing all the beating until he got too reckless.

He got beat up on the ground tonight, but to say you "didnt get the BSD hype" is just stupid.

There is very good reason why the guy had hype.

I' so drunk and was ready to shit on you for the first time ever but i read it all and undertstood the story lol amazing post
Yeah when @Substance Abuse said "midget Aldo" i was all:

He set a pace that nobody could ever keep up, Poirier was just patient & stayed defensively sound until the opening provided itself, he did not get dogged in any way.
After watching Poirier vs Islam, I think Poirier proved that he made the BSD fight more difficult than it needed to be (going for guillotines).

He dogged Porier for all but 10-15 seconds of that fight. Moicano just looked great in that first round. Amazing takedown and great BJJ.
Poirier has holes in his game but as I've always said he cannot be outdogged. He is THE dog as BSD and many others have found out. Try it and you'll get knocked out. (Gaethje got him with the headkick though)

Yeah you cant outbrawl him. You can beat him but trying to go toe to toe outbrawling him aint gonna work. He can take it.

you didnt watch that fight clearly

I am always wary of fighters who fight on adrenaline (aka balls to the wall). That shit rarely works in continuous fighting formats, particularly in grapple-heavy combat sports like MT or MMA ...or sports like boxing, where you go 12 rds.

I remember when BSD debut and he got the absolute shit beat out of him.

I figured that was it for his career but he impressively managed to string together a bunch of finishes although against average opponents.

Agree that the hype was pretty unwarranted. Losing to Poirer was one thing but losing to Moicano will hurt his credibility a lot more now. He'll have to dig deep again and start finishing lower guys again.

Khamzat is the worst with that, I think he's very immature and therefore doesn't pace himself correctly. It's gonna bite him in the ass.

But people cant understand the hype though. It eludes their minds.

"huh??"

This dude was touted as the next big thing…a highly trained, Parisian special forces commando with skills.

Dude just took a life changing beating and now has lost two in a row, badly.

Can he rebound? Or is it…..

The beating he took vs Elizeu and then the KTFO by Poirier and then this beating...he's a finished fighter. That's too much damage sustained over a short period of time. He's physically gifted and very aggressive, large for the weight and kinda dangerous everywhere but he started MMA very late..his cardio is lacking, his striking technique is very lacking and he has no defense. Super raw guy who made it into the rankings off forward momentum and talent but it turns out he's not really a top 20 caliber guy once push came to shove. This happens often, rankings are not comprehensive.

I think mileage is catching up with him. Remember that fight (maybe his UFc debut?) that was one of the craziest war ever? He took a ton of damage already then. It’s amazing he went in such a run after that beating, but then taken clean shots from Poirier and now this.

First time seeing him fight? Same thing happened in his debut.

He is great as the hammer and very durable, but relies on it too much.

Moicano looked great, but he has struggled to do that to top level 155ers. It's the first time he has looked to be the bigger, stronger fighter at 155.

I love how everyone dumps on a fighter after they lose.

BSD had hype behind him for a reason. He was finishing guys left and right, showed legit BJJ skills, and powerful striking.

But his ground game, or lack thereof tonight, makes me doubt how good his ground game really is. I mean, Moicano couldn't take down Fiziev, a smaller guy and kickboxer no less. BSD looked like a white belt on the ground.

He was extremely overrated, that's what happened. He is fringe top 25 LW being generous.
