Disingenuous? Maybe you should look at the official scorecards. Heading into Round 4, two judges had it 2-1 Islam. Second round was extremely close, and I think Islam edged it but an argument can be made otherwise.

Islam may of out pointed him due to lay n pray (tds he did absolutley nothing with) . It was a close fight in which even on his back Volk was more the aggressor n did more work. Had Volk 3-2 as did alot of others.

That said Islam underestimated how strong Volk is an likely adjusts in 2nd fight but Volk knowing Islsm can do nothing g to him on ground likely opens up more in his standing. Will be a great re match

If you're down three rounds heading into the fourth you ARE getting shut out. But five round title fights aren't over after the third and I don't think the judges had it unanimously 30-27 heading into the fourth anyway.

In pride rules aka the superior rules, volk ended the fight looking much better, fresher and aggressive. Imo Volk won the fight but it aint a hill id die on

I meant round the last round lol, I corrected it. Those Jamie shots for every finish last night crept up on me.


Either way it clearly reflects what I meant to say: Two had it 3-1 Mak and one had a full shutout. There’s no other logical way to score the fight.

The fight wasn’t close until Islam was already on cruise control and rode out the 5th. People just have the image of Volk landing some GnP in the last round, similar to Hominick vs Aldo.

This completely trashes the rest of what you were saying. The fight was absolutely close, and that's not even the premise of the thread. I attacked the argument that Volk was "dominated," which is a ridiculous assertion and clearly something a person who changed his name to "P4P Islam" would troll with after a phenomenal Volk win last night.

Nothing like a Sherdogger trying to kneecap a fighter the morning after a spectacular win on a historic fight card.

That was a fairly closely contested fight where one guy had a very obvious size advantage. Islam clearly won three rounds to two IMO, but 48-47 isn't "dominating" by any stretch of the imagination. I honestly expected Islam to dominate Volk based on the size differential but it was a much closer fight than I anticipated and the only guy who ever seemed hurt in that fight was Islam.

The size differential is exaggerated. Height does not equal size, Volk will always visually look smaller because of how short he is. He proved last night he’s as thick and strong as any LW, he’s way stronger than the FWs.

The version of volk that we saw lastnight was almost as good as the version that fought islam. Volk fought well against a tall rangy striker, and showed how dominant of a champ he truly is. He is vey well deserving of the p4p 2 spot.


If anything, this is an even bigger feather in Islams hat, due to the fact that he dominated volk in all aspects of the fight for 4/5 rounds. In hindsight this is an even more impressive feat than people realized.


Cant wait to see what victim Islam gets to destroy next.
