Influencers probably lol.My family had one of those cable black boxes so I watched it live as did my brother. You also found out about a lot of bad shit as it was happening.
I thought it was odd they had another Woodstock event so soon after the previous one, but '99 ruined any further ambitions. Don't even know who would be at a Woodstock these days.
You watch it and realize how much more testosterone was around back then.
This is always a weird thing for me to reconcile as I was a teen in that time period, so I'm not sure if that's how it was for everyone being young and reckless or if it was just the time. I grew up in South Florida skateboarding and there were always fights. It was just a part of the culture. When we moved to the midwest, there were still fights between schools and stuff like that. I then got into music and going to concerts, and we were always just looking for chaos. I remember being super pumped about about being in a riot at college and didn't want to miss it. I look back on a lot of the shit and don't know how we survived. Having kids now, I'm glad that it doesn't seem this way anymore. I think having phones holds everyone accountable where we got away with insanity back then.
Nah, they just got all the headlines. They had a healthy mix of just about everything. They really fucked up with the booking, especially on night 2 where shit started to really pop off. I believe they had three acts in a row that would be more at home at Lilith Fair, and followed them up with Limp Bizcuit, ROTM, and Metallica, LOL. They needed a buffer in between all that hard shit.Should of gone with more mellow bands and mixed in a few of the edgy stuff like in 94. 99 was basically all 90s rage music.

My personal bro science thinks that technology is a big reason why testosterone has dropped so badly. Instead of being outside, getting dirty, attempting dangerous things and having physical conflicts....kids are just sedentary while looking at screens from the safety of their own home. I don't see it as a good thing at all. Probably why there's so many anxiety riddled low T dudes out there. They never really get to experience those uncomfortable situations that build character and toughness.
Every kid needs to be forced to go to a Woodstock 99 summer camp. Complete with feces throwing and arson.
That was literally Stoned Lemur's claim to fameDid anyone go?
All I knew before the doc was watching Korn countless times. Knew nothing about the blatant ripping people off and women being raped, burning the entire place down nightmare.
What a stain it left on the legacy, I really can't believe I knew nothing about the horror till watching the documentary. A Sherbro and I watch pretty much everything doc wise that's in our space so when he told me to watch, I watched.
I know a lot of families are like this, but I seriously can't understand it. My kids are constantly busy. I'll just give today, a random Tuesday, as an example:
14 year old: Will have football from roughly 5 PM until 9 PM
11 year old: Weights + basketball from 9:30-11 PM, softball pitching lesson at 4 PM
6 year old: Not as active in summer sports, but we put her in day care to keep her busy. She'll go with me to the Y this evening too.
Yes, they do rot away on their electronics in free time or at night, but they really don't have a ton of that. My neighbors kids are not in any sport, organized activity, or any major hobbies of note. Even when I got out of sports, I was very into skateboarding and guitar/bass so I was always doing shit with measurable progress. It amazes me how many kids have zero interest or passions besides "gaming" or "hanging out".
Being a 90s teen myself, I feel ya but I also feel like the pendulum has drastically over corrected.
Today's kids are absolute bitch made pussies.
You.... SHOULD ... experience a little chaos. Men specifically I think benefit from at some point in their life being punched in the face, at some point taking shit a little too far and having to face the payback, it teaches respect and humility.
The current world rewards bad behavior and you get a lot of this "main character syndrome" effect going on where if these people got knocked on their ass from time to time it might check that out of control ego.

The biggest regret of my life so far is 14 year old me not finding a way to go.![]()
I mean, I used to rot away with my electronics often. But I was doing Sambo twice a week, backyard pro wrestling with my friends (kinda dumb and dagerous, but fun and athletic as well), going outside and walking /bike riding/driving around with friends, and like you said, plenty other friends were into skateboarding and stuff as well.I know a lot of families are like this, but I seriously can't understand it.
