I'm just getting ready to finish up that new Netflix series Dead to Me with Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini. I actually really enjoyed the show and thought it was good, but there cookie cutter approach to television kind of makes me roll my eyes. Its seems like everything has to have the following now days.

Strong female lead (Head of household, can beat up men etc...)

LGBT supporting character(s)

Usually some sort of snarky comment about the republican party

White villain

Heroic or moral character is a person of color

Christianity is mocked while other religions are respected

There's nothing at all wrong with the things above, but all of these points seem to be playing on repeat when it comes to Netflix and Hollywood right now, and a lot of it is a little unrealistic.

I'm not a conservative or a Christian and none of this offends me as a good writing can always shine through. It's just that Hollywood seems to be pushing a painfully obvious left wing agenda.

Using “unrealistic” as your reasoning is kinda dumb. Just say you don’t like shows with those elements and be done.

But I do like some of them. I mentioned that in the OP.

Ok, fair point. I do want to add one question. The part about women beating up men being unrealistic...sure, but isn’t that what movies are for? Bruce Lee walks in a dojo and KOs everyone with with roundhouses. Martial arts fans loved it because it played into their fantasies and dreams. I’m guessing women get the same thing out of it.

I also think there are ppl in the world that seek to antagonize and poison the relationship between men and women, so there’s that.

For every one movie with a strong female lead theres like 1000 of the opposite, you're putting too much thought into this. Don't like it don't watch it, that's what i do.

meh, all these channels hire reasonably good writers for the first season so most start off decently.
ever notice how they fall off after that?
it's the source of a possible script writers strike.
networks attempt to establish these shows, some of which actually show promise but then they dismiss
the original writers in favor of subpar ones paid less than half what the first ones earned.
my nephew is a producer at NBC and said it's common practice.
my 2cents.

That's weird, I've been watching Netflix originals that don't have female leads at all. Maybe you're picking alot of these types of shows and Netflix is just showing you more of the same?

You forgot to mention them mentioning global warming.

I don't watch TV. But the right wing snowflake outrage over African Americans and women getting put into TV shows is so cringe. There are still hundreds of shows with white male leads. Go watch those if minorities disgust you so much. Find something better to bitch about. Hollywood has always been shit media propoganda. Crying about minorities in shows is just so petty

There are plenty of internet Incels complaining about increased diversity in Hollywood. Your bothered enough to make a thread about it. Even though I don't see it being very true. Business is business and if they think appealing to different demographics will help their subscription sales then Ofc they will make shows like this. It probably has to do with America becoming browner and gayer overall. More of an audience for that stuff means more reason to produce it

I've certainly noticed an ever increasing amount of trannies in my city.

Not saying this is good or bad. Like you

I think my problem with this, is that women haven't traditionally watched action shows/movies.

I think it is equivalent to taking every rom com, and making it with 2 black gay men in every movie or show.

It kind of demands the question, are you social engineering or selling a TV show/movie?

They need some better writers. Even their alpha white male shit is average.

It's not really left-wing. What it is anti-white and anti-Western civilization. Sadly the masses slurp that venomous shit up like some pornstar licking semen off the floor after a bukkake.

I don't normally watch television, but if Netflix is as woke as OP desceibes I may have to subscribe.

OO pls stfu....24, homeland, etc all have Arab people as the evil terrorist villains, that's a shitload of shows!...are you also offended by that? or do you accept it because it fits how you look at the world? Please stop acting like it's only white people who get stereotyped as the bad guys...Fucking hollywood has been doing it for years against minorities and you probably never gave a shit.

Sicario, Narcos, Scarface, etc all portray Latinos as Drug traffickers/Criminals.....You get the picture....Stop acting like it's only done against white people...Stop acting like there's a "left agenda", if there is, holyshit they really seem to pander to Conservatives stereotypes lol.

Fact is you're pretty much an SJW, getting offended by a fucking tv show lol.

Bad blood is the shit.

Stop appealing to statistics to cover for the liberal Hollywood agenda.
