Social Netflix Originals are pretty cookie cutter these days...

Dude I am not that old, I am pretty much in the target demo that these "woke" shows and movies are supposed to be targeted and yet even I roll my eyes at them.

I wasn't saying you are old per say. I'm saying you are getting older. It's perfectly natural to long for the traditional themes that we grew up with and reject any kind of disruption to that. Personally, I don't really watch Netflix, enjoy "blockbuster" movies, or listen to "popular" music. It's always been crap to me - was there ever a point during your Netflix subscription that you really enjoyed the majority of the content they produced? The little I've used it, I had a hell of a time just trying to find something that sounded interesting in the first place. Maybe I just don't watch enough of it to really understand what you are saying.

I don't mind that things have changed, I like being exposed to new values and ideas in media. As I said earlier that is partly why I try and explore foreign media. Part of the problem with these woke shows is how derivative they are. As far as Netflix content goes, I have enjoyed the original content of theirs when I have watched it but I don't check out every show they put out. As far as their content in general, it was better when they were the only streaming business but now it takes more effort to find something good to watch. Again, check out their selection of foreign media if you want to experiment.

I do think people are thinking too hard about this. While there is an agenda some are pushing, not every damn TV show that say has a strong female lead is doing it on purpose.

I'm just getting ready to finish up that new Netflix series Dead to Me with Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini. I actually really enjoyed the show and thought it was good, but there cookie cutter approach to television kind of makes me roll my eyes. Its seems like everything has to have the following now days.

Strong female lead (Head of household, can beat up men etc...)

LGBT supporting character(s)

Usually some sort of snarky comment about the republican party

White villain

Heroic or moral character is a person of color

Christianity is mocked while other religions are respected

There's nothing at all wrong with the things above, but all of these points seem to be playing on repeat when it comes to Netflix and Hollywood right now, and a lot of it is a little unrealistic.

I'm not a conservative or a Christian and none of this offends me as a good writing can always shine through. It's just that Hollywood seems to be pushing a painfully obvious left wing agenda.
I canceled my Netflix last week, and when they asked reason I just wrote "too much leftist bullshit", because I was noticing the same pattern as you.

I don't watch TV. But the right wing snowflake outrage over African Americans and women getting put into TV shows is so cringe. There are still hundreds of shows with white male leads. Go watch those if minorities disgust you so much. Find something better to bitch about. Hollywood has always been shit media propoganda. Crying about minorities in shows is just so petty
You're a fine example of today's leftist. If someone disagrees with your bullshit just label them an intolerant sexist racist nazi and their argument automatically becomes invalid right?

Also, women are not a minority dummy, they make up more than half the world's human population.

Check out how much Hitler/Nazi Germany related content there is on Netflix, and then check out how little information is available about Stalin or Mao.

They make sure everyone is well informed about the crimes of Nazi Germany, and rightfully so, but the death count pales in comparison with the number of people killed in the name of socialism in Russia, China, etc... yet they hardly teach that in school, and you cant find anything on Netflix about it, matter of fact waving a hammer and sickle flag while wearing a Che Guevara shirt is even glorified and romanticized.... it's just fucken bizarre.
