Wrestling NCAA Wrestling

Could be the widow effect. It is very sad, I have never heard anyone say a bad thing about Strobel. I remember Jon Trenge saying that when he was a coach in his 50's he was in better shape than most of the wrestlers on the team.

I went to a few clinics he ran around that time and he was in great shape. And agreed you never heard a bad word about the guy.

Those early 2000s team with Trenge, Letters, Dillon, Cooperman, Rob Rohn, Frick, Zink were pretty awesome.

Trenge might be the best to never win an NCAA title.

I agree one hundred percent. Trenge had awesome technique!

If anybody is interested, the Russian Freestyle Nationals will start on Wednesday; if you cannot watch the streams, then do not worry - the more important/medal matches will be uploaded onto youtube. But, only on this channel:

There is potential for some big matches to take place

Oh, and GO SIDAKOV

Also, who are some college wrestlers who have the best riding/tilting/pinning top games?

Recent times, preferably, because it is easier to look up footage of them. Will check them out, I recall Ruth being one of the best college wrestlers, as well as Dake. Will check them all out!

Trying to learn how to ride?

I already have an idea, and know a few pins etc - like the claw. But, I grew up with freestyle and you know - riding really isn't our thing.

We cannot train right now, where I am, and the only grappling/wrestling/anything I can do is just watch instructionals and matches online. My girlfriend will no longer drill moves with me lol

I agree it's the right thing to do. But, I wonder how many 18 year old freshmen vs 26 year old redshirt seniors matchups that is going to cause.
And could you imagine if these older guys are also wrestling internationally? Especially at the senior level? We saw a good bit of this around the turn of the millennium with the Cuban defectors wrestling collegiately. Alexis Vila showed up at Midlands and whiped the floor with everyone. On the other hand, Lazaro Reinoso and Jesus Wilson actually lost a few matches in DII and DIII respectively.

Those guys were obviously folkstyle neophytes though. An American in his 20s with international experience AND extra eligibility should be dominant. Look at Jake Herbert's last year or 2 at Northwestern. Contrarily, Randy Couture couldn't win Nationals despite a big age and experience advantage.

Should be interesting.

Herbert took an Oly redshirt in 2008 and Varner beat him at Midlands I think. That's why Herbert stayed at 184 in 2009

I'm actually talking about how dominant he was in college after a season wrestling internationally.

Did anybody see Sidakov losing today, in his first match?

He will learn from this loss, he has had a tough year. Hopefully 2021 will be much better for him. He is our best shot at 74kg gold.

Yeah. Anyone who has had to coach a teenager going through a breakup, especially their first or a bad one. Is just happy they are even showing up and competing sometimes. And that has nothing on what happened to Sidakov. I hope he can recover. Heard nothing but good things about him

*and I want Burroughs to win or lose gold by wrestling him. So no one can say Burroughs only won because Sidakov was there lol.

You need to wrestle people actually trying to escape from you to truly get it
