Wrestling NCAA Wrestling

Penn State vs Wisconsin on now Big10 network

Takeaways:

Meredith is terrible
RBY is going to be a finalist this year
Lee is in the hodge conversation (yes Srs)
Brooks is hurt
Shak won’t AA this year

Called it several months ago and I’m sticking to it: Parris will be the US rep and I won’t be a bit surprised when he medals either. Dude is on a freakishly sharp growth curve.

I went Rutgers vs Michigan on Sarurday with a bunch of Rutgers fans. It was a doubleheader wrestling and basketball and I was the only wrestling fan.

They all got into it when Rutgers went on a run through the upper weights to take a 1 point lead. They looked at me when it got to HWT to see if they had a chance.

I told them to get ready to see what a pin looks like

Nice, I think Sadulaev is still the Olympic champion at 97 regardless of who USA sends.

I hope Taylor can make it too, he can win the Olympic gold, not sure about Dieringer etc, though.

I think Cox was the only guy that could beat Taylor at 86kg.

I think Zahid has a better shot than Dieringer and that will be interesting to see.

I'd also like to know how Nickal does against him in the room but I'm kind of assuming Taylor bug brothers him since he didn't even try and challenge him for the spot in an Olympic year.

WOrd on the street is Taylor and Bo are "neck and neck" in the room. Im calling it now, if Bo don't make the team, which he won't, he either starts MMA or leaves NLWC and drops to 86.

I think Bo drops to 86 for OTT. The ranking tournament was a reality check for him.

I'm all for being a good teammate but this is the Olympics. I can't believe he's not challenging Taylor if he can beat him.

I'd actually really like to see Bo and Zahid go at it again, they had some pretty good scraps in the past and I think Bo has progressed further.

Thoughts on this call? I thought Naifonov should have gotten the 4 points here, because the ref whistle as Amine was in air and it did look to be a progressing technique.. and it did look really nice too, but unfortunately style points are not awarded in wrestling

At 6:23-6:25 it looks like Amin steps out with his left before the takedown.

Rumor mill is swirling that Fix popped for PEDs as well. Unconfirmed at this point though.
