Another stellar showing for the US greco team. Finished the tournament with an astounding 7 wins between 8 guys.

barring guys like Aleksanyan, Surkov (excluding one match) and a few others. These greco matches have... not been fun.

90% of greco matches look like a sumo wrestling match. The other 10% are when you get a stud against someone who is clearly overmatched and they catch more hang time than Mussolini.

Fun fact, Riza Kayaalp won Worlds without scoring a single offensive point. Every point he "earned" was through passivity and pushouts.

Yay greco, right?

Karam Gaber had that one Olympics in 2004 where he made it look exciting. I think he teched everyone.

Damn, Maroulis killed it today. She looked incredible. Would have liked to see Koblova vs Maroulis tho, it would have been the toughest test at her weight.

Hopefully Ohio's athletic association will get its head out of its ass soon and add girls wrestling. When recruiting and talking to kids in the middle school I've had over a dozen girls say theyd wrestle or at least try it if they added it as a girls sport.

And to all the dumb dumbs that think the singlet has to be kept. I got 4 football players to actually either decide to or seriously consider wrestling when I told them they didn't have to wear it anymore

Lol kids actually refuse to wrestle because of the singlet?

I weep for the youth

Go ahead and weep.. the attitude of clinging to the singlet through hell and high water hurts my brain

I've been starting to think being stuck at basketball school in the south, and seeing what it's like for the non elite high school programs for a couple years might have actually been a good thing because it has given me perspective. People really need to stop forgetting how the sport can look to people not familiar with it, the mentality of an awkward middle schooler still developing in who he is and his self-confidence, more importantly the parents of those kids...

High school numbers have been dropping at an alarming rate, and people raised in the culture or who are in elite clubs or powerhouse programs really don't get what it is like for a rapidly growing portion of schools with trouble getting numbers and can't be competitive with powerhouse programs that umm "aquire" any good kids that the school might have had, and those programs have trouble making money and they can't keep good assistants, and on and on.. it's becoming you're either a team with 10 freshmen who have only been wrestling one or two years and maybe an assistant "coach" i.e. dad who never wrestled, or a powerhouse with over 50 kids and at least 5 assistants who were good in high school or wrestled in college. The 'middle class' teams that had good numbers, are competitive in duals, and have a couple qualifiers or placers each year are disappearing

So wrestling is really at a crossroads, we can keep doing the same thing, and.. keep losing college programs, keep losing participation numbers, keep running most youth programs like idiots, focusing on winning in youth over development, unnecessarily making kids cut weight (especially in youth), keep fighting girls wrestling even though it literally eliminates the vast majority of title IX issues and the awkward weirdness of boys wrestling girls, not play the game of politics in athletic associations and AD's to keep us from being option #1 on the cutting board, not promote it as coaches, say kids who don't like the singlet 'couldn't handle the sport' and just dismiss most kids now days as pussies that can't become tougher or benefit from the sport.... and watch wrestling turn into a club niche sport that only rich people who can afford the clubs will be able to do it much less be competitive, and watch it die at the high school and college level.

Or... we could adapt to the times and instead of losing kids over something as insignificant and trivial as the freaking singlet.. get more kids to do it or at least try it. And understand that especially because of the kids are raised today.. wrestling is needed more than ever to fight the pussification

I didn't read any of that.

I didn't read any of that.
I figured you wouldn't

TLDR; numbers are down, and the non elite programs are suffering, clinging to something as trivial as the singlet when getting rid of it can help get more kids out is borderline asinine and short sighted. Unless people want it to become just a club sport only rich kids do

Rough draw for Stieber again. Will have to go through Rashidov and Khinch right off the bat.

Cox has a great draw. Should walk to the finals if he's running at full strength. Both Yazdani and Yasar are on the opposite side.

It's entirely feasible that Logan doesn't place. If he loses to Rashidov and then Khin beats Rashidov, he's out. At this point, I'd bet on it happening.

Being a LogieBear fan is more stressful than being a Eli Manning fan

Not saying anything new here but the way they bracket is fucked. You have Stieber, Khin, and Rashidov all going head to head in the 1st 3 rounds in the top quadrant. Bonne and Esanpoor will meet in the 2nd round in the bottom quadrant. Aliyev has a bye to the semis, and the 2nd quadrant is a joke.
