Two non lottery picks*******
Its not nearly as good as you think it is lol
You think anyone else you bring isnt going to be a massive salary? That's the crux. Getting AD to a team for better players you can flip for picks is a better deal than trading him to flip for a salary dump. AD is going to play some games, yes he's got injury problems, but right now its not really beneficial for the Mavs. Free agency is going to suck and I dont know who they can bring in. Lively has turned into a brittle can, Gafford is probably getting dealt too. They're in desperate need of a big who doesn't suck.Yea, thing is man, gAyD has a massive salary. The Mavs had to get rid of him once they realized what they had with Flagg. AD's player option alone is 68 million dollars. Plus at this point he's damaged goods. The guy gets hurt every time he takes the court. I think its a homerun under the circumstances, but either way, even if its not a homerun, the Mavs have to build around Flagg. I would expect there are possibly more trades coming, specifically Daniel Gafford.

The Mavs as an organization have a shitload to prove before anyone should be happy with these moves.
It's top 20 protected so it will likely end up being a 2nd rounder instead. After this upcoming draft the next 1st rounder that they have full control over isn't till 2031.Warriors 2030 first round pick will be extremely valuable.
Exactly. After this draft they won't have access to any top 15 picks (for both draft and trade purposes) for at least the next half decade. They'll have to hit on both first rounders this draft + sign 2 guys that are immediate starters and even then that's most likely not going to get you out of the 1st round. It would be beneficial for them to try and win now with him on a smaller contract instead of building around a superstar 24 year old on 70 million a year or whatever the fuck hes gonna cost lol
I think we have entirely differing outlooks on good cores. Right now the Mavs have a bunch of okay players not core talent. I dont think anyone you mentioned is a long term asset for any team. You know I'm a huge Cooper Flagg fan, but this is looking more like White LeBron with the Cavs than a competent organization.I'm not happy with Nico setting the franchise back about 5-7 years. Landing Flagg though has changed the outlook somewhat. I just know the only move they have is to try to build a team for Flagg. The good news is they do have some solid role players who are young right now like Max Christie (22), Naji Marshall (28), PJ Washington (27), Mousa Cisse (23) and Mousa has been a breath of fresh air, plays hard and has a considerable amount of upside, Ryan Nembhard (23) who has been surprising to pretty much everyone this year despite him being a midget, Brandon Williams (26) who is lightning fast and gets to the hoop at will.

Yes, really. It's like saying Duncan Robinson or Luke Kennard are great core players. They're guys you get for secondary options and fill ins. Extras.Breh, really? Max Christie is 22 years old and is shooting 43% from 3. He's shooting the ball at an elite level. Naji Marshall's floater game makes him virtually unstoppable in the paint, he's like 5th in the entire league in percentage in the paint. I would argue at the least Max is a part of Flagg's future.

If Naji Marshall was so good he'd be getting a fuckload more touches. Max Christie is legit a 3 and D from 6 years ago and doesn't have the expanded game.
I dont think % matters, I don't know Christie's contested vs catch and shoot % so it doesn't mean much. Naji is 28 years old if he was worth a god damn he would have never been on the Mavs and would have been a centerpiece at this point.Naji is playing on a broken team and is averaging 15/5/3 this year. Max is only 22 years old and has not reached his peak. He's top 15 in the league in 3P% this season. I just think you've judged these two guys wrong and if the Mavs tried to trade them plenty of teams would jump. I'm not saying they are championship starting 5 guys. You know a team needs guys coming off the bench that are competent players and I'm not convinced Max won't be a starting player yet. He won't even hit his peak for another few seasons.
