I hate the Lakers so much. You don't think any team in the league will offer a better deal to the Nets for Kyrie than Westbrook/Joe Harris? That seems WILD to me considering Kyrie has the best handle on the planet and can give you 50 on any given night. I know, he's a malcontent, as you put it, but damn. I guess I could have condensed this entire post to a haiku.

Anytime there's superstar players free the Lakers act like it's their mantifest destiny despite having no assets because they spent them on their last mantifest destiny.

Hopefully the Nets are sane and laugh at them. The consensus in the NBA(at least among the players) seems to be that Kyrie is the "most skilled player ever" sure he has issues so does the Lakers entire team. If Rob Pelinka can convince the Nets to deal Kyrie he's a hypnotist or something.

But yeah the NBA treats the Lakers(and Celtics) like they the main character.

That's the joke of all this. Why would any team break the bank for this dude, when he could just have a bad day and demand a trade? Great player. I wouldn't trade anything more than a few picks for him, though.

That's the thing there were reasons for him leaving OKC and Golden State. This move tells a team even if you give Durant complete control of the team if the media does a few "KD made a mistake" stories(admittedly toxic af but that's the NBA media) he's blowtorching everything. Durant is good enough to justify that risk(though he's getting old) but damm they got to be nervous.

the pelicans tried something similar with gAyD and Cousins and it was hilariously mediocre. Wolves still end up as a 5 or 6 seed at best.
