From what I understand, it was still sort of taboo to mix races at that time. Not that it didn't happen, it was just considered sort of unusual. Its just not something that was ever talked about in my family. I have no idea what tribal affiliation she had or if she had any at all.

Interesting choice of words as you tried to tip toe the PC line and failed miserably. "Some cultures" aren't "crybabies" as you so eloquently put it. That whole "all men are created equal line" is what "some cultures" having been trying to chase. They don't want a "handout", they just want their seat at the table with everyone else that they've been promised for generations.

If they believe all men are created equal, they are then stupid crybabies. They don't want handouts, but continue to suck on the government's titties with welfare paid for out of my pocket? Sure pal.
 
The were a tribal, warring people. They were starting to develop, I believe. I don't feel bad for them not winning all the land, because they were in a situation where the stronger tribes took from the smaller tribes by force and with brutality anyways. They lost at the game they would have played if Europeans had never showed up. But we know, White people have to feel bad about building the best first world places.

It's certainly true that some tribes were extremely warlike, even to the point where conflict between tribes often came first as a priority before conflict with whites (something the US gov gladly exploited at every turn), but the concept of specifically trying to exterminate people/culture based on cultural or religious reasons is, broadly speaking, imported. In my tribe, for example, if you went down south on a raid and killed a guy then realized he had a kid around, it wasn't uncommon to take that child in and adopt them as a full member of the tribe.
