Rumored Nai Khanom Tom never existed?

Friends, I am creating this topic, to ask your help and knowledge about a subject related to the history of Muaythai.

During my search on the intet on the history of Nai Khanom Tom I have not found anything that proves its existence.

Has it existed or was it just a created myth?

He was alive during the 1700's I doubt anyone here can confirm first hand accounts...

It is only in the book of muay boran. In serious history book, it is addressed only as a legend.

I do not want to see a photo. Because as I said above at this time there was no camera.

What serious history books even go into the origins of Muay Thai? You're literally ONLY going to find that in a Muay Thai focused book.

There is probably a lot more information in Thai literature which I can't imagine you can read.

According to legend Nai Khanom Tom was released along with other prisoners. How this influenced the history of Thailand. Should this in some history book of Thailand.

Nai Khanom Tom fought to free other Thai prisoners. This is certainly part of Thailand's history. So it should be in some Thai history book.

No, he fought to entertain the King and was granted his own freedom, as the story goes. How much research are you even doing if you got that major part of the story wrong? I'm sure it is in Thai history books (true or not) how many of them have you read in Thai script?

Yes I must wrong to write only he was released. But this feat is part of the thailand of Thailand. There is only 5 book translated for English in history of Thailand.

When referring to a person you use either "he" or "she" it's not "it". "it" is a thing, not a person.

I'm sure the story has been fed through a filter, exaggerated, used as propaganda, etc... as much of history is relying on accounts and not hard data. Most of history is not based on hard data because most of the time it's impossible to obtain.

We don't even know the full truth about the Petrosyan vs Nanthanan fight and that was only 12 years ago and all we can do is rely on the only account that we have and that was Rob Cox who was there. What makes you think you are going to know the truth about something that happened over 200 years ago that is also tainted by the animosity between Siam and Burma?

That text you copied doesn't say he never existed, it's a generic summary about how humans are born to fight and that boxing was invented for them to defend themselves.

This is like trying to verify the historicity of the biblical David. Any sources you find aren’t going to be objective or terribly reliable because he is a national folk hero who’s strory flirts with the fantastical. Whether he was real or is sharing a flat with Goofy and Donald Duck doesn’t matter. The thing that does matter in reality is Muay Thai and how effective it is.
