The idea isn't that he was beating Weidman before getting finished in both fights- it was that he was on track to setting up a finish like he usually is.

Sonnen dominated him for 5 rounds before Silva synched in the triangle choke.

In the rematch Sonnen took him down and full-mounted to finish the round. Silva still (T)KO'd him in the 2nd.

Henderson took him down in round 1 and got rocked and RNC'd in the 2nd.
