Absolutely. Far from my first pick for moose but it’s an awesome gun in the brush looking for bear. It’s so beefy, it’ll just hit a branch and keep rolling.

I had my semi auto in 300 win mag for that hunt. Doesn’t have the character of the old lever gun though, that’s for sure.

What 300 mag do you have? BAR? I’m looking to get a long cartridge and kind of landing on 30-06. I’m a sport shooter not a hunter(yet) but would like a do it all cartridge with a long barrel life, thoughts? Recoil is not an issue.

I have a BAR, yeah. Newer one, it’s a stalker so all blacked out and synthetic stock. It’s accurate and fun. Little extra maintenance than a bolt though and I’d get 30-06 over it but I wanted it for bear. The extra power is nice of the win mag but ammo is a lot more money and it kicks pretty hard, even in a semi auto.

I just ordered the newest x bolt the other day in 30-06. Should be in soon but Canada post is on strike. Mountain pro 22” barrel. I got a chance to try one at a range and was considering tikka but it fit me nice and I liked it so I bought one of my own.
