What's up? I've signed up for a powerlifting meet in a few weeks and decided to post here, mainly as a place for some discussion but hopefully someone else will take my lead and enter a comp.
A bit of a bio:
19 years old, just over 6 foot. 90 kilograms. Been lifting for about 3 years, focusing almost exclusively on compund movements, got a crapload of information off this forum which helped so much when starting out.
Found a new gym in my area (new for me) two weeks ago. Owner's an oldschool powerlifter. Has a 342kg deadlift at 90kg. Booked in for a personal training session just to get some help with the movements. He told me about the comp and i've been training with him and his mates since.
It was daunting as hell training with them, I rocked up early for my first squat session and sat in my car for 10 minutes just psyching myself to go upstairs. But i'm a firm believer in training with people stronger than you are so I reminded myself of that.
The meet is an equiped meet, i'm lifting in an old single ply suit which I think is older than I am.
I'll post some of my workouts from the last week or so...
Thrusday 27th of March:
Deadlifts day, training partners were a bit late so I started without them, did lots of reps at a low weight just to get the rounded upper back form in my head.
