My Poker Goals

So you have not played at all since?

Nope, I actually have protection on my computer which stops me going on any gambling sites. I was half decent sober but as soon as i had a drink in me I put the lot on the line at crazy stakes.

Me and my brother went to Vegas and played 1/2 at a lot of casinos (PH being the best) and came out about 6 in the green between us... it was fucking awesome. The amount of guys that bought in for 40 and shoved any ace was beautiful.

I'm done now though. I cannot be trusted.

Read the entire thread. Good reading. As soon as I get my computer fixed I plan to get back on the grind.

Please PM me the site you are using.

Bump for meeting my goal at 7/5/13 @ 1641 PST. Balance: $2015.88!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure what to do from now, but I am hungry and wanna get a massage. Move up stakes ? Continue grinding? Only time will tell, much appreciation from those who follow and support this thread.

I've been playing some live 2/5 NL lately and some juicy tournaments on the side. One particular hand I'm curious your guys opinion on how I played it.

I'm on the button sitting on $250 chip stack and I get dealt Kc-10c. Mid position player raises blind up to $25, one other player calls (we'll call him drunkard) and I call.

Flop K-10-8 (rainbow)

I check

Raiser bets $25, drunkard calls, I raise $60 on top

Raiser takes a couple minutes and calls, drunkard calls

Turn comes a 7-----board K-10-8-7 (2 hearts)

I go all in, Raiser reluctantly calls, drunkard gives it a f it call

River comes a 9---Raiser turns over a Q-J, drunkard mucks.

Was this just pure bad luck or did I play this hand wrong?

Standard.

Nice progress.

Is there a reason why you have to PM the site(s) instead of being able to talk about it openly like they do on 2plus2 ??

Anyway I put in $100 on (poker site that makes all members anon) and pretty soon I was down $50. I was trying too hard to outplay people and make moves at micro stakes that I was very spewy.

Started to play more tight/aggressive and now I'm able to have winning sessions. But still it's a grind and very slow and boring. I'm only playing 1-table while watching TV or something so it's kinda boring.

Things I've learned:
- Don't try to outplay at micro stakes.
- Don't try to bluff calling stations.
- If the table is overall tight, play looser/aggressive.
- If the table is loose/passive, play tight/aggressive.

May I ask where you guys are learning poker from? Any books or cool resources?

I'm also on (poker site that makes everyone anon), would any HUD or poker tracking software help me? If not, should I go elsewhere? I heard that (poker site that makes everyone anon) was the biggest with the largest crowd in the US. Any other good alternatives?

Yes, even a HUD at an "anon" site helps because it still tracks hands for the session.

This thread sparks curiosity and interest.

I'm actually doing really well after my initial deposit. I'm just focusing on the lower stake NL games. After some grinding sessions I really start to pick up on certain players weaknesses and play fairly well into that. The problem I'm having now is trying to play 2 tables at once. It seems like it decreases my quality of play pretty substantially, even though its just one extra table. Any tips for multi-table play??

If you're playing lower-limit, read Crushing the Microstakes by Nathan Williams. You should be able to find a PDF somewhere online. It's very informative and helps you tailor your game for the lower limits like NL2/5

More hands and overtime you will get more comfortable making decisions on the fly.

I've started to find a groove in 3 table play. I committed one mistake though, which now makes me focus A LOT more on the board than apparently I was before. I hit the boat on the river, opponent hit the straight, but I was paying so much attention to the straight, I thought I just hit trips, therefore I didn't re-raise his river bet. Probably missed out on an extra $100. That one kinda hurt, but can't do nothing about it, but to pay more attention next time.

What stakes are you playing?

25c/50c or 50c/$1 NL. Sometimes I'll dabble in 1/2 or play a sit-n-go

The last 2 days it seems to be the same story though. Ill run 3 tables, one ill be doing good, another il'll stay relatively even and the other I'll go through a buyin or two. By the time all is said and done, I'm up or down $20-$50.

I'm thinking of just going back to the basics of one table, maybe two. I just can't figure out what's wrong with what I'm doing.

I'm still playing and I am contemplating what a "new goal" will be. Any suggestions?
