Limelight My big stupid hype trains thread.

I don't think Naiza will really help unfortunately. He should go with LFA if he can, that's usually a guaranteed route into the UFC if you do well there. Especially as it seems he's training in the USA a fair bit now.

UFC signs a lot of cans, pretty absurd if they're hemming and hawing saying Asu needs another win. He's better than 95% of the people they have on the contender series. This is disappointing news if true, hopefully he just gets a contender series fight.

Well I've seen Goncharov from ACA recently said that when he was in talks with UFC he says that they wanted his winstreak to be almost a series of 1 round finishes.

Words of Shavkat https://www.sports.ru/kazakhstan/11...lizok-k-ufc-no-emu-nuzhen-eshhe-odin-boj.html
Says that he in his opinion Asu should take a fight in Naiza so he won't have a huge layoff.

Country - Ireland
Weight Class - Strawweight
Age : 29
Promotion - Invicta
Team - Holohan Martial Arts
Record : 5-0

Shauna is another one that's kind of crept up on me performance by performance. Initially I thought she was kind of just an aggressive taekwondo girl but now she's shown more of her grappling she's proving she's a really well rounder martial artist.

Obviously the variety of kicks is her highlight, she keeps range with them well and hurts girls with them causing them to panic wrestle a bit. She's also got quite a good damaging top game when girls fuck up panic shots on her and let her get on top of them.

Never mind Mama B, I'm gonna start calling this girl Shauna Bullet.

Big Train is really, really violent and really fun to watch. Just stupid amounts of aggression and offence. It's not mindless aggression, even if it looks a bit wild at times, it all makes sense and it all batters the absolute shit out of the opponent. He's great at backing people towards the cage and then absolutely unloading on them with a myriad of violent options when he gets them there.

He absolutely smashed former Eternal champ Aiden Aguilera at the weekend and it'd be interesting to see if that sets up a clash with the also impressive prospect, current champ Blake Donnely.

Murad Magomedov

Country - Russia
Weight Class - Bantamweight
Age : Not sure
Promotion - UAE Warriors
Team - Not sure
Record : 13-0

Got to give Murad some shine. He's on the usually failed trajectory of leaving ACA and taking some fights outside to try and get into the UFC but hopefully he's one that gets in. It's tough for someone like him to get fights, so he's having to fight lower level guys, but to be fair he's absolutely crushing them as he should be. Smashed this dude up on the feet and then took a sweet guillotine in transition.

Probably won't get signed to the UFC and will end up back in ACA like everyone else, but we can dream.

Jhonata Diniz

Country - Brazil
Weight Class - Heavyweight
Age : 33
Promotion - Immortal FC
Team - Santa Fe Team
Record : 5-0

I'll take what I can get at heavyweight and although he's already 33, Diniz is a former Glory heavyweight kickboxer who seems to be adapting okay to MMA so far. His opponent was very low level but his understanding of at least defending the single leg seems to be there, which bodes well for him keeping it on the feet. Obviously if he can keep it on the feet then he's extremely dangerous, with his knees in particular being extremely nasty.

Holy shit did this kid look impressive this fight. I'd previously been impressed by his boxing as he has fast hands, good combos and KO power for the division, but in this fight he barely used it, just absolutely battering his opponent with leg kicks, taking him down at will, smashing him up from there, going back to utterly fucking both legs up and then spin kick to ground and pound KOing him. Seems to have levelled up miles and I genuinely wouldn't mind him being in for the CW title already, even at 5-0.

Ridiculous prospect.

He's 23, thank God. I'll give him a look. When are your updated rankings?

I usually do them towards the end of the week when I've had chance to catch up on stuff on weeks where there's a lot of movement. The non finalised ones are always on the link on the front page though there'll be stuff from the weekend I need to move about.

I've bumped Lo'ner to #3 flyweight. I was seriously impressed.

Why 3? Kinda curious how you rank these guys because I still think he loses to many guys on your list and he doesn't exactly have the a lot of wins yet or big ones. Also seems a bit undersized for 125, looks he could be a 115er if that existed proper without much trouble.

It's a mix of current level and where I think their potential ceiling is. So you do have guys ranked a bit lower that would probably beat guys I have above them if they fought tomorrow, but I think the higher ranked guys have the highest ceilings and will ultimately go on to have the best careers.

All just my opinion though.

I've been pretty blown away with Daniyar Toychubek at 125lbs. His last 3 wins are all over guys who were legit undefeated prospects and favorites vs him, and those 3 guys were better than any of Lone'ers wins quantifiably. He's 21 and already looks well rounded, athletic and with a solid 15 minute gas tank. But it becomes interesting in how you see potential, his game might not be as dynamic as Makoto, Van or Lane'er but it already looks more well rounded and developed than theirs in a lot of ways. Doesn't matter though I guess, he will fade into the ACA ethos.

So many super young Flyweights Tsuruya, Takahashi, Daniyar, Lone'er, Van, McGrillen, Igor Da Silva, Hyun Lee, An Ho. Really curious to see how it plays out. I do think Lucas Rocha is too small and that it'll catch up to him but he should be named too.

Oh and Taira and Mokaev actually in the UFC. All these guys are 23 or younger, damn. Any others that young on your hot list? Haven't seen a bunch on An Ho yet but people I know tell me he's really good.

At 125? Yeah Jaret Betancourt is 24 so I guess just outside your age range, Tony Laramie is 23 but he seems to have issues with all his fights falling through at the moment but he's really good, Luciano Pereira is 22 and looks interesting.

Laramie is another guy who's so smol, Flyweight has that weird issue that lightweight back in the day had, a lot of guys are a division or two divisions smaller than the weight class but there isn't an option to go down. And Flyweights are really getting bigger, guys like Taira and Mokaev are enormous.

I'm noticing...not a lot of Americans in these names lol.

There's possibly some I'm missing. There are some decent flyweights on the regionals but they're a bit older like Alberto Trujillo (Josh Van represents Myanmar but he's a prospect of US MMA and there's Betancourt).

I did think Santo Curatolo was going to do something but he turned out to be a bust and then there was Phumi Nkuta, but he kept having injury problems and retired when he was top 3 in my rankings unfortunately.

Daniyar was impressive as hell in his last fight. The commentary was positioning him as "the opponent" so to speak but he ended up making Khamzaev look like the opponent.
